WEEK SIX

Sunday starts with more aches and pains than you might be used to. Florence patched people up after Saturday’s lesson, sure, but it’s not a complete cure - not to mention it doesn’t ease the sting of betrayal. Some classmates that you thought would cooperate wound up breaking your trust in the end, and this week will be interesting with the fallout.

It’s hard to say what this week will have in store otherwise. Things are changing, and it’s not clear what this means for all of you. On the bright side, however, the creatures and places you once knew from home have suddenly disappeared, so that's less that you need to worry about. There are new areas for you to look at as well.

Task One

(OOC: There will actually be an increase in nightmares this week! It's not a guaranteed, every night thing, but they do seem more common and more intense than the nightmares a character may usually have.

And, as with all weekly tasks, there's a small prize for participation!)

[ When Hien feels good enough after all that pain, Florence's healing, and whatnot, he goes to explore the new areas.

First is an investigation at the supermarket. He heard from Fai that there was a person in here, so he tries to find him in the back room first.

Otherwise, he'll be at the home improvement store, looking at the large selection of wood he can cut with a handsaw that he has in his hands. Sorry that he looks menacing, but at least he looks approachable with the university cozy sweater he got on despite it being summer-like? ]

Are birdhouses still in style?

[ Unfortunately nobody seems to be back here, but there are some organized stacks of food with papers on them! And an abandoned blanket fort. ]

[ Being around Hien has been weird since the whole memory thing. Miach knows full well that he did not actually save her and definitely has not improved her life in any permanent way, but she remembers how it felt to suddenly be safe. Ugh.

That said, she'll do her best to not acknowledge this. Or the events of this weekend, really. ]

Is that really something that matters when making one?

[ Hien is so menacing with that handsaw... but the sweater totally ruins it. Fai sidles up to him, smiling. ]

Were they ever in style?

[ He genuinely doesn't know, but he is also trying to antagonize Hien. ]

[ He gives Hien a faint smile. ]

If you want to create it, then I see no reason to not. Adhering to what's "in style" is terribly restrictive, I've found.

[Does Phantom want to be up and about two days after the lesson? Not really. But spending too much time cooped up in proximity to Marcus isn't his idea of a good time, particularly after certain things that were said on Saturday. So! Fortified with a comfy sweater he's up and about exploring the new shopping area.

None of these things look like a bookstore, which is inherently disappointing. But he settles for a little while in the tea house, spending some time scrutinizing the questionable pastries and the elaborate tea setup. When he's done with that he'll be curled up on the couch with a purloined book on programming and a cup of tea. If anyone enters, he'll glance up briefly.]

I wouldn't recommend any of the food in the case.

[Later on, he stops by the supermarket since he's here anyway. He's not taking that much time browsing - not when he has to take the sweater on and off every halfhour - but he puts a few semi-random things like dried fruit and lightweight snacks into the bag he has with him. He spends a while in moderately bemused contemplation of the sodas, too.]

[ Miach should probably be apologetic towards Phantom after the events of the weekend, but when she approaches him she's as jovial towards him as ever. As if nothing happened, though she very well knows it did. She's just not going to be the one to bring it up. ]

Another disappointment, huh... At this point we probably shouldn't be surprised.

[ She glances at his choice of reading material: ] Getting up to speed with this world's tech?

[ It's so funny to see Phantom having to take off and put on the sweater every half hour, and. Well. He's actually been in the area for quite a while since he was snooping around. When he's at the soda section, he tries to sneak up on Phantom from the back and covers his eyes with his hands. ]

[ When Fai walks in and finds Phantom there reading, he claps his hands together. ]

Oh, great! You're already here!

[ Without any further explanation, Fai heads into the kitchen. Eventually, Phantom might start to smell something that seems like cake... ]

[ Xingqiu is in here, yep. Some tea can be nice to have, he decides, after you know, everything, and perhaps he had his eye on the pastries display as well. ]

Oh, really? That's a shame...though, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to whip up something I like well enough.

Phantom-san!

[ Riku calls over to him just before he heads over to the tea house. Riku has a little something in his hands, and he's panting when he approaches, like he was in a hurry.

That little something is a Rubik's cube-like toy from the museum. ]

Um... I hope it's okay if I give you this. I know it's your birthday today, but...

[ Well. Being on the team that betrayed people in the end and all... ]

If you don't want it, I understand, but I hope you'll accept it.

[ Miach has not been seen outside much since the weekend. Some might assume that this is because she feels guilty for mashing betray at the last second, but... really, she just hasn't been in the mood.

This morning however, she can be found in the common area of the dorms, sitting cross-legged on a couch as she frantically tinkers with her tablet, only occasionally pausing to push her mass of hair back. If you look over her shoulder, you'll see that there is a rudimentary diagram of a human body displayed, with various body functions described at the sides. It doesn't seem to be displaying quite right and every once in a while it glitches and displays an error in Estelline's native language, but... it's coming along.

Later you can find her by the gas station, where she is putting gasoline from the pumps into two large canisters that she then proceeds to take back to the dorms. That is probably fine and you probably don't need to worry about it. But maybe you should worry about Miach who is pausing every 20 meters because the canisters are too heavy for her noodle arms.

In the evening, Miach is at the roller rink - and without the clumsiness effect, she is having the time of her life here. She spends hours circling around, dancing in a spin-like motion until she's dizzy. ]

Fai is actually on his way out of the gas station with a bag full of snacks in hand when he spots Miach struggling. ]

[ His offer should tell her all she needs to know about whether or not he's mad about the betrayal. ]

[ well, given her insights and unfortunate familiarity with what has been going on here, sabo's going to be interested in what she is doing. especially since it seems to be taking quite a bit of her attention. he won't be too intrusive with it and will clear his throat to let her know of his presence. ]

Can I ask what you're working on here? You seem very invested in it.

[ Luci watches her skate for a while, perched on the wall like it is a seat made for him. He is snacking on one thing or another at first. But eventually he stands, hands in front of his mouth to call out to her. ]

[Another week, another set of locations. And while he has no objections to more food being available, he won't spend too much time wandering around those places for now; if he needs something from there at a later point, he'll grab it then. However, the home improvement store catches his eye, and he'll spend a little longer in there. Namely, he'll be hovering around where the yard tools are, with a hefty shovel in hand as he turns it around to test the weight and balance. If you're similarly wandering that aisle, he might turn to you at some point and ask:]

Do you know how to sharpen this?

[Why does he need to sharpen a perfectly unused shovel? Look, don’t worry about it.

Anyway, after home improvement adventures (stashing a machete and a shovel in your dorm room counts as improvement right), it’s time to go investigating with his new best friend: a hatchet. Namely, he’s going to go over to the apartments to see what he can find, although he’ll make a beeline for the mail room first. And if you catch him putting a hatchet into a wall at any point, well. It's fine, probably.]

[ Hien looks at the shovel, back at Shin, and then back at the shovel. ]

... If there's a bench grinder or hand-held grinder, I can. Why?

[Is there anything in particular he's looking for in the mailroom? It's mostly packages, with most letters and smaller items in the mailboxes out in the lobby. Or is he just going to go through every package that's there to leave no stone unturned?]

[ There's been no nightmare yet. No reason for Luci to stir awake in the middle of the night, early am by some clocks. Yet here, curled up right beside Mae with his eye still closed, he does. His breathing changes, but Luci remains still.

He doesn't care about the betrayal or the pain it caused, so this is all pretty annoying. In fact, he wishes he had been the one to set them up. All he needs are his friends back home, not any of these chumps. So why can't he fall back to sleep?

Eventually, he gives up looking asleep and with a dissatisfied but quiet groan. Stretching out instead, he finally looks at her. Maybe a testing shove if she doesn't look awake. Speaking lowly, but not even trying to whisper-- ]
