06 - week six

WEEK SIX

Sunday starts with more aches and pains than you might be used to. Florence patched people up after Saturday’s lesson, sure, but it’s not a complete cure - not to mention it doesn’t ease the sting of betrayal. Some classmates that you thought would cooperate wound up breaking your trust in the end, and this week will be interesting with the fallout.

It’s hard to say what this week will have in store otherwise. Things are changing, and it’s not clear what this means for all of you. On the bright side, however, the creatures and places you once knew from home have suddenly disappeared, so that's less that you need to worry about. There are new areas for you to look at as well.

[ Hien is so menacing with that handsaw... but the sweater totally ruins it. Fai sidles up to him, smiling. ]

Were they ever in style?

[ He genuinely doesn't know, but he is also trying to antagonize Hien. ]

Not like you'd know.

[ Shots fired back!! ]

I'm tryna think of something for Phantom's gift.

I'll have you know, I keep up on all of the trends.

[ No. He barely knows what a trend is. ]

Hmmm... do you think he'd like watching birds? The thought of it is kind of funny.

I dunno. Birds might bully him instead.

[ Poor Phantom... even bullied in Hien's imagination. ]

Ah... I wouldn't go that far...

[ Hien, be nice!!! ]

Do you know of any hobbies he has? Why don't you start with something he already likes?

Reading. I don't write stories.

[ Because that's a certain type of creating zone that he doesn't want to get into. ]

Books...

[ He looks up at the wooden planks again.

... ]

Oh, got it.

[partymagician]

[ He can't help but smile a little when Hien says he's got it. ]

Oh? What are you thinking?

[selfconcept]

I'll make a book.

[ ... ]

A fake book.

[ He puts the saw down on the floor and reaches up to pluck a block of wood, but the rest starts toppling like a losing jenga tower and falls on Hien. Good thing he's wearing the sweater, but he did try dodging last minute. His legs aren't good enough for that yet, unfortunately. ]

[ Before Fai can even ask Hien what he means, all that wood comes tumbling down on him... Fai is lucky enough to make it out of the way, but Hien on the other hand... ]

Hien...

[ Fai starts to move the pieces of wood off of him. ]

[selfconcept]

Ugh...

[ When Fai moves the bigger pieces of wood away, Hien shoots him an apologetic look. ]

Sorry.

[partymagician]

Why are you apologizing to me? Because you weren't being careful?

[ He smiles gently even as he scolds Hien. ]

[selfconcept]

It was just one block...

[ He grumbles, but gets out of the block of wood with Fai's help. ]

Thanks. I don't wanna clean this up.

[partymagician]

Then don't.

[ Someone will probably pick it up and use it later anyway. ]

Can I watch you make it?

[selfconcept]

Sure.

[ Hien walks ahead into the aisle after picking up the handsaw. ]

Do you have a pen or a pencil?

[partymagician]

In my backpack!

[ He has a small one slung over one of his shoulders. ]

Aren't you glad you have me around to give you pens when you need it?

[selfconcept]

Sure do. You're so helpful. Thanks.

[ Though he'll keep walking until they're at the back. Hien places the wooden block on the bench surface and sets up the bars so that they'll hold the block in place without interfering. ]

[partymagician]

[ When Hien is set up, Fai opens up his backpack. He figures a pencil would probably be better, so that's what he ends up handing over. ]

Show me what you can do.

[selfconcept]

You got goggles, right? I hope you brought them.

[ Hien swipes a face shield headwear and puts that on his own head. ]

Chips might fly, so be careful.

[partymagician]

I did!

[ And he takes them out of his backpack to put them on. ]

Ready!

[selfconcept]

[ Hien makes sure Fai is far enough so that he doesn't get flying splinters or anything, but after marking the block, Hien does some careful crafting with the saw. After a lot of wood remains on the floor and hammering, Hien eventually finishes crafting something that resembles a book with a function of a jewelry box as it's been hollowed inside for storage purposes. ]

There. I think for paint, it should be with Phantom's usual colors...

[ Fai stays a fair distance away as he works, only coming closer when he’s done. ]

I think that’d be a great idea.

[ It’s colors he most likely already likes.

But he smiles. ]

You’re good with your hands.

[selfconcept]

[ With gloss, probably. Hien seems to be thinking until Fai says that last bit. ]

... It's something I like doing sometimes, so... I guess it could have been my second secret talent.

[ He still has his goggles on, but now he fully invades Hien’s personal space as he moves closer just because he can. ]

Do you have a third secret talent?

[ Drawing, probably? ]

[ Hien doesn't seem to mind as he looks up at Fai when he asks. ]

I hate calling it a talent, but I can dance.

[ Ah... Hyunjung was in a dance club, wasn't he? He wonders if that's where Hien learned, but he doesn't bring it up. The memory was gruesome, and he doesn't want to ruin the mood. ]

Are you familiar with ballroom dancing?
