3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ Endearing.

For Hien, it's okay to feel endeared to people because they're cute. But sometimes that word carries something heavy—his mood drops to absolute zero for a hot second before looking off to the side. ]

Endearing, huh? I'd rather not be, but if you say so.

[ He look up at the building. They finally arrived! ]

[ He can feel those negative emotions and he can’t help but feel his own mood drop. ]

Did I say the wrong thing again?

[ Just like during his possession. ]

There's no right nor wrong things to say, first of all.

[ He leads Fai, but then he sees a clothes store. Hm. ]

When someone tells me that I'm endearing, I can't help but to think other things. I was told that I was endearing while I was squirming and groveling on the ground, supposedly.

[ Anyway. ]

Let's go over there. I want more black clothes.

[ Hm. Hien might be blasé about it, but Fai feels guilt creeping in. He didn’t know, but still. ]

What do you like to be told?

[ He’ll follow Hien easily, absentmindedly thinking that Hien would look nice in some other colors. ]

[ Hien turns to raise an eyebrow at Fai. ]

You think I'm just gonna tell you what I like being told so that you can say it whenever?

[ He seemed a little better wheh he was praised, at least. ]

…Isn’t that how it works?

[ Of course he’s going to say it whenever!! ]

I'd rather you say it while you mean it.

[ That's why he doesn't want it done whenever. With that, he goes to look at the t-shirts. We doesn't want designs on them and seems to be looking at more neutral colors. ]

[ The thing is that Fai would always mean it, but he doesn’t say that.

Instead, Fai follows him over to the t-shirts. ]

I think you’d look nice in some actual color. It doesn’t have to be bright either.

[ I am making typos everywhere today...

To that, Hien plucks a gray shirt. ]

Color.

[ No. ]

[ Fair stares at him for a long moment before walking over to another rack, grabbing a dark green button-up, and holding it up for Hien. ]

Color.

I don't like green.

[ Normally he'd just say something to deny Fai's suggestion, but it really seems that he doesn't like green... ]

[ He swaps it out for a royal blue, holding that one up instead. ]

I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say you dislike something.

Really? I don't like physical pain either.

[ If he says it like that, does it sound normal...? He keeps the gray t-shirt close to himself, but looks at the one Fai is holding out. ]

Is there a darker one...

[ It sure doesn’t! Fai still thinks it’s weird, but he decides to drop it for now. ]

No, because it’ll be too close to what you already wear.

[ He hums thoughtfully. Ah! He’s got it. ]

If you try it on, I’ll try on whatever you pick out for me.

But I don't have any...

[ His eyes wander around before he can say anything and he sees something he'd like Fai to wear.

Hm. ]

Okay.

[ That was fast. Hien reaches out for the shirt Fai picked. ]

[ Well then! ]

Your sudden motivation worries me a little.

[ But he hands over the shirt anyway. ]

Can I grab some pants for you?

[selfconcept]

Yeah.

[ ... ]

You said it, not me.

[partymagician]

[ Hien has a point so… Fai will leave it at that as he goes to grab some pants. He eyes the skinny jeans for a moment before opting for a pair of black straight-leg jeans instead.

He hands a pair over to Hien. ]

Here. These should be your size.

[selfconcept]

[ Hien quietly takes the pair of pants. Jeans should be fine as long as they're not too tight. ]

You like dressing people up and stuff?

[partymagician]

I do like picking things out… but I mostly want to see you in something different.

[ So. Sort of. ]

[selfconcept]

Are the university clothes and this sweater not enough for you?

[ Hien knows it should matter, but on the list of things that he cares about, this is far from being at the top. ]

The sweater is an improvement.

[ He smiles at Hien. ]

Of course, you’re free to wear whatever you want anyway.

[ Fai isn’t the type of person to dictate things like that for someone. ]

That's what I've been doing.

[ Can't be tamed. ]

Should I go to the dressing room now?

[partymagician]

Unless you want to change out here.

[ He raises an eyebrow before he starts pushing Hien towards the fitting rooms. ]

Come on, I want to see!

Fine, fine. Stop pushing me—

[ Hien picks up the pace to lock himself into a fitting room and comes out... relatively quickly. Ten seconds? Ten seconds. He's wearing both the top and pants that Fai suggested. ]

... I don't want a tie with this.
