3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ Their backs look wide enough to comfortably sit on.

Fai tilts his head. Despite Hien’s lack of any enthusiasm overall, Fai can still tell something is off. ]

Everything alright?

[ Hien sighs. ]

I was looking forward to seeing more of Estelline's history in a museum, but there's close to nothing.

[ Everything else is pretty much what he's used to, so there's really nothing fun about museums for him, but he didn't want to ruin the experience for Fai, who probably hasn't seen any of it. ]

Ah, so you’re disappointed.

[ Hmm. ]

I suppose most of this is rather generic from a world traveler’s perspective. They probably have the more exciting stuff hidden from view.

It would be fun if we suddenly found a secret door, huh?

[ At least Hien would think so. ]

Yeah. We’d get to sneak around like spies.

[ He grins. Fai would honestly take it seriously, but the idea is fun to entertain. ]

Another day, I guess.

[ He looks up at the suspended skeleton for a while before looking at Fai. ]

Anything else you wanna see? Don't let me hold you back.

I saw a little gift shop, so let’s go there.

[ He didn’t have too much he wanted to see in natural history, so he’s fine.

Fai detaches himself from Hien and grabs onto his hand instead. ]

Let’s go!

[ When Fai takes his hand, Hien holds his hand firmly. Now that he thinks about it, this is kinda like a date, isn't it?

... ]

I wonder what will be in the gift shop...

I hope they have some cute things for our room…

[ Clearly, that’s the most important thing here!!

He guides Hien all the way to the gift shop, only letting go of his hand so he can make a beeline towards the baseball caps. ]

[ Hien watches him go and then wanders off. This gift shop really has the classical merchandise here. He looks up at the shirts on the racks, trying to decipher what the language says on each of them while he waits for Fai. ]

[ Fai eventually walks over, placing a cap with a little pterodactyl on it atop Hien’s head. ]

I like it!

[ Guh. He got his eyes covered by the visor, so he lifts that and turns to stare at Fai with his usual look. ]

You like me with a hat on?

[ That reminds him though, so he leaves the shirts section and goes over to the toys section instead without waiting for Fai's answer. ]

It looks cute.

[ Especially with the little design on it…

He follows Hien over to the toys, wondering what grabbed his attention. ]

[ Hien takes the cap off and looks at the design, squints at Fai, and puts it back on his head. This design is fine.

Anyway, he gets out a little package full of capsules. ]

I haven't seen these in a long time... if they have those wiggly toys, this gift shop would be like a nostalgia fest.

[ Fai probably has no idea what he's talking about, so Hien will elaborate. ]

It's like one of those tube toys that has water or jelly inside it and it slips out of your grip a lot.

[ Hien holds his hand up, but then puts it down real quick. ]

... Anyway, is that all? Let's go if we're done.

[ Fai stares at Hien, trying to hold back a laugh. ]

That’s quite the demonstration…

[ It does look like a fun toy and all, but. ]

Shut up.

[ He smacks Fai's shoulder. ]

I didn't know how else to show you. Sorry it's in a cylinder shape.

[ god. His face feels like it's stinging and burning from the sheer embarrassment. ]

[ Fai snickers. ]

No need to apologize to me! Just don’t go demonstrating that everywhere.

[ His embarrassment is so cute though… ]

I didn't mean to... ugh. Whatever. Forget it.

[ Hien takes whatever he wants to take before rushing out of the gift shop. Bye. ]

[ Fai continues to look around to give Hien some time to cool off. He ends up grabbing a dog tag and a t-rex plush. He goes out through the entrance so he can snag his backpack before setting off to find Hien.

When he finally does, he shoves the plush into his arms. ]

[ Hien already packed his things inside his own bag, which wasn't much in the first place, and suddenly he has a t-rex plush in his arms.

...

He holds it up, making it face Fai. ]

Ferocious.

Just like you.

[ He boops Hien’s nose. While he’s now well aware that Hien can be pretty violent, Fai wasn’t and still isn’t afraid of him, and that should be more than clear by his joke. ]

I also got these.

[ He holds up the dog tags. ]

[ He looks at the dog tags and then gives Fai a dead look. He knows these are also popular IDs by military personnel, but he isn't from the military. And from how he calls him Puppy a lot-- ]

You don’t want to be my puppy anymore?

[ How sad… so, so sad. ]

I was never your puppy.

[ He almost growls out. ]

By that, I mean I'm not a puppy.

[ He tilts his head. That emphasis sure is something. ]

But you’re still mine? You can be a kitty if you really prefer that…
