3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

Yep!

[ He's been subtly picking out things during their conversation. In his arms are a few graphic tees, skinny jeans, tank tops, and slightly cropped shirts. ]

So, tell me how mean you'll be.

[ Hien frowns a little, pulls Fai close and whispers into his ear.

After that, he speeds out of the clothes store. BYE. ]

[ Wow, Hien, you're going to make him blush! Before Fai can even say that, Hien has bolted.

He laughs as he folds up all of his clothes and puts them into his backpack.

And he snags a few things he thinks Hien might like too before changing back into his original clothes and heading back out to find him. ]

Hien? Come out, come out wherever you are~

[ Hien looks at Fai, peering from the corner of the museum. ]

I'm right here.

[ Hmph. ]

[partymagician]

[ Fai sets his backpack, now heavy with clothes, at the front of the museum. There's no one around to disturb it, so he might as well. ]

I picked out a few more things for you. Nothing adventurous.

... I have a feeling they might be.

[ Hien isn't new to fashion and wearing hip and trendy clothes or whatever, but he vastly prefers the comfort of the college hobo style. ]

Are we going in there too?

[partymagician]

There are t-shirts and hoodies in there, I promise.

[ Just setting the record straight!

He nods. ]

Lead the way. I'll follow~

Alright, though I have a feeling it would be better off if you could walk freely instead.

[ Hien leads Fai inside the museum. It feels nice in here... ]

What about this?

[ He latches himself onto Hien's arm as he looks at the lobby. ]

Who knew it'd be so nice in here? It's very welcoming.

[ Oh.

Well, alright. ]

Museums have that sort of vibe, huh? It wants you to enter and see everything it has to offer. There are all kinds too, but I guess this one is a little more of the classic type.

[partymagician]

The classic type? What does that mean?

[ He starts to lead the way a little, stopping when they're under the giant whale skeleton. ]

Do they have things like this?

[selfconcept]

Yeah. Museums sometimes have several topics, like art, history, and space. There are more specific museums too, like one for marine life, certain science areas like physics, some that are dedicated to art... it's usually a place for learning at your own leisure.

[ He looks up at the giant whale skeleton. ]

I bet that one was a baby. Adult ones probably won't even fit in here.

[partymagician]

[ Now he's kind of disappointed that he's never gotten a chance to go to a museum before. They sound fun.

There's a mild look of surprise on his face. ]

Really? I'm only used to dragons being large like that... I suppose it makes sense that there would be creatures like that in the ocean too.

[selfconcept]

The oceans are usually big from what I've seen. You'd probably be as big as a whale's eye. That's how big they are.

[partymagician]

That's pretty cool! I want to see one someday.

[ He smiles at Hien before he starts walking again, essentially leading the way up to the second floor. ]

In Celes, I never really got a chance to see the ocean. It was a very cold country, so I spent a lot of my time blasting back dangerous deposits of snow and shielding places from avalanches. Exploring was always job related for me.

So you were like a one-man expedition team. Using magic like that sounds fulfilling too... was it fun?

[partymagician]

[ He glances at Hien as they make their way up to the second floor. ]

…Not particularly. You see, I took my duties as the protector of Celes very seriously. I wasn’t the kind of kid who really had fun.

[ Mostly because of trauma, but still. ]

[selfconcept]

So you did that as a kid. I guess when you're tasked with things like that as a kid, it can't really be fun. I bet you were a good protector.

[ He looks ahead at the exhibits once they reach the second floor. ]

[partymagician]

I agreed to it, so it isn’t like I was upset over it at least.

[ He doesn’t say anything about being a good protector, though. He still let everyone die.

Fai lets go of Hien so he can look at some of the paintings. He looks at one in particular—a scenic painting depicting a stone bridge over a pond filled with flowers. ]

[ Hien feels like he's seen so many paintings of this same exact scenery for reason over his lifetime, but he goes to stand next to Fai anyway to view it. ]

Does something about it stands out to you?

Mm. I’ve never seen a place like this… most places in Celes were iced over and I haven’t taken much time to explore the worlds I’ve been to.

[ Most exploring he’s done has been for the kids, after all. ]

It looks peaceful, don’t you think?

[selfconcept]

[ Despite the meta in the last tag, Hien looks at the painting in a newfound appreciation for people like Fai, who haven't seen it before. Of course that would be the case. Hien has seen so many things that novelty would be difficult to come across nowadays for him. ]

What else have you wanted to see?

[partymagician]

[ Fai leans closer to him. ]

That’s a secret.

[ Not really. He just wants to be obnoxious and that was a great opportunity. ]

[ Hien actually doesn't back away this time when Fai leans in closer and only gives him a dead expression. ]

Fine. Have it your way then.

He bonks Fai's forehead with his and pulls away. ]

[ He laughs softly, the little bonk taking him by surprise. ]

I’d like to see a farm with cows, chickens, crops… a barn too. I think that’d be cute.

[ When it comes down to it, he’s a simple guy. ]
