3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ He laughs softly, the little bonk taking him by surprise. ]

I’d like to see a farm with cows, chickens, crops… a barn too. I think that’d be cute.

Did you ever see it in a storybook? Or some illustration like this one?

[ Hien looks around. There's a lot of art regarding sceneries... ]

[ Fai gestures towards a painting of a barn before walking over to it. ]

I did see it in a few storybooks. Some of the villages I would visit had farms too, but I want to go somewhere with nicer weather.

Farms usually have nice weather, because of how they're located for the sake of their crops.

[ But. Hm. Okay, maybe that won't be enough. He'll have to think of something else. ]

Anywhere else?

Ah… I don’t know.

[ He laughs a little, but it might be more out of nervousness regarding talking about himself than anything else. ]

I haven’t given that sort of thing a whole lot of thought.

[ Hien stares at Fai for a long moment before moving onto the next painting. It's a very abstract piece of art with the use of geometrical shapes. ]

Maybe this is a giraffe.

[ It is mostly not even close to being a giraffe. ]

Those things with the long necks, right?

[ He pokes Hien’s cheek. ]

That’s definitely not it.

Then what do you think it is?

A cute little puppy!

[ He pokes Hien’s cheek with each word. ]

I bet you ten grapes that there isn't a goddamn puppy in that painting.

[ He grumbles when Fai keeps poking him. Stop that. ]

[ He shows some mercy and stops poking Hien. ]

There isn’t a giraffe either.

[ Fai raises a brow. ]

Are you sure you want even more grapes?

[ He saw all those bunches he got… ]

I ate most of them last time. I gave some bundles away to Shizu and Cater.

[ Yeah... It was still a lot of grapes, but he ate them all. ]

Maybe I'll make juice with it next time.

Wow, you’re so healthy~

[ What a healthy puppy! …That’s what his tone seems to indicate.

Fai looks around the room, gazing at the different paintings. His eyes stop on a painting of twins. ]

Hm?

[ Hien follows Fai's gaze. ]

... Anything about this painting interest you?

[ He doesn't think they look too sad. ]

Twins are pretty rare, aren’t they?

[ At least they are in his experience. ]

Not really. I think it's about thirty twins per thousand births.

[ ... ]

Well, at least in some worlds. Maybe yours was different. I dunno. It depends on the socio-economical environment as well as technological advances.

[ Hien sounds smart for once. ]

My puppy is so smart…

[ He ruffles Hien’s hair. ]

Twins were no good in my world.

[ Which world? That’s for Hien to guess. ]

It’s nice to see happy paintings.

[ And that’s all Fai will say about that before he moves onto one of some sort of battle. ]

[ Well, now Hien knows that twins were something that hits a sore spot for Fai, considering how quickly he moved on. He doesn't say anything, quickly fixes his hair and follows Fai. ]

Say, have you ever gotten on a dragon before?

Just a small one… they functioned like mounts for Kuro-sama and I when we fought battles in one world.

[ He glances at Hien. ]

Why?

Would it be like in this picture?

[ Fai on a majestic dragon steed, shooting arrows to snipe enemies from a distance! Majestic. ]

Oh, so you think I'd look majestic?

Yeah. Dignified too.

[ Like an ideally portrayed prince.

He doesn't say that. ]

Dignified? You really think I could be?

[ Does it look like he has a single dignified bone in his body!!! ]

[ He sounds pretty confident in that too. ]
