3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ Sometime late in the afternoon and into the evening, the common area is filled with all sorts of items. In the midst of said items sits Fai and Hien on one of the couches, waiting for people to come by. Hien has his grappling hook in hand and a threatening aura, which is greatly diminished by Fai's relaxed demeanor as he leans back against Hien's side so that he can stretch his legs out on the couch. Hien's also got a notebook in his lap alongside his tablet so he can study.

If anyone walks near the common area or dares to come in, Fai will try to wave them down. ]

Come look around! We've got a bunch of stuff! If something's yours, just let us know and you can take it~

But if your stuff is on my side, you'll have to pay up. And no stealing something that isn't yours or someone's getting hurt today.

[ Fai laughs. ]

He's kidding!

[Madara goes right in with a "don't mind if I do!" but he's stopped in his tracks when he sees a picture of a motorcycle.]

...Mind if I look at the bike? I know how to ride and how to maintain one, so maybe I can help fix it up if it needs it.

[ Fai even gets up off the couch. ]

I can take you to where it is, if you want. I have it right outside the dorms.

[Boy, does he miss Baby-chan. He has so few joys in life back home.]

[ Fai leads Madara outside and lo and behold... right outside the entrance is a motorcycle that just might be incredibly familiar to him. ]

[Unsurprisingly, Owen is here, because both of them got items from him this week!!!

It's also not like he can get through the common room without them noticing him anyways, considering how he's limping, so he was doomed from the start.]

Oh? You'd shoot me again?

[That's directed at Hien before he even stops to look at what they have, and he's almost attempted to dismiss this whole thing because he really doesn't want to give Hien anything more when he notices the suitcase. Ah.]

That's mine.

[ Fai smacks Hien on the leg. He shot more people than just Fai??? Hien needs to chill.

He smiles at Owen like he didn't just do that. ]

Feel free to take it!

[ With how old that suitcase is, it'd be strange for Owen to lie about it being his, so Fai believes him. ]

[ Hien almost scowls, but only keeps his head down so that he can keep studying Estelline language like the nerd he is. Don't smack him?? Wow. ]

[Should hit Hien harder, Fai.

At least it's obvious it wasn't Just Hien who's put Owen through the wringer - there are fading bruises on his throat and bandages wrapped around his thigh, visible thanks to the shorts he's wearing right now.

He picks up the case, turning it over in his hands as if checking for damage, but it's already so beat up is it even possible to tell... He opens it up to see it's completely empty - unsurprising, but still disappointing.]

You aren't even going to make me prove it's mine?

[ Fai gives Owen a dubious look. ]

I don't know why you'd want it if it wasn't yours... it's not in very good condition, and it's empty.

[ He's sorry for insulting your suitcase, though. ]

[ Gentaro can't deny his interest is piqued, so he goes right on over. ]

My, you have quite the collection.

[ There's nothing on Fai's side that belongs to him, and he isn't inclined to steal anything, even with Hien's warning. On Hien's side, though, his eyes widen in recognition. He motions to the microphone. ]

Name your price.

[ Hien puts his notebook down and grabs the microphone with care and holds it out to Gentaro. He remembers they talked about hypnosis microphones, so he's pretty sure this is Gentaro's after he picked it out. Gentaro is quite lucky, because-- ]

Commission fee.

[ Do not specify. That's all he says about it. ]

Is there good progress?

[ He takes it, and a moment passes. So, it's functionally useless here, is it? He has to wonder just how anyone managed to render it completely unusable. Perhaps he'll have to bother Lorelei again...

Anyway. He tucks it away, and the tension in his shoulders ebbs away slightly. ]

Thank you. [ He nods. ] Quite good, in fact. I would like to show you whenever possible.

[Okay, so, like, regardless of the actual items, there's something more important here...]

[... the Fai-Hien combination!! W- Well, this isn't exactly the next big meeting but, like, it's an opportunity, right? He's definitely peeking... around the edge of the common room... watching...]

[ Fai motions for him to come over. ]

[ Meanwhile, Hien looks up from his notebook and gives Idia a small wave. Yo. ]

[Popping by, Cater is certainly waved down easily enough, and, hey, two items get his attention really quickly!]

[As if, you know, the one that's themed after his surname didn't make that much obvious, but also he'll point out the beanpod themed... sniper... rifle... (Image for the Uninitiated...)]

And that one's totally Idia's, buuuuut he might want to get it himself~

[Since, you know, it's in Hien's possession (by Fai proxy) and he's one of like two people Idia likes.]

[ Hien was saving this phone for Cater, so he easily hands it over without asking for payment. He's too fond of Cater now...

But then he looks at the bean shooter and. Huh. ]

[Score...!! He was kind of concerned about what Hien would ask for for payment, so to get it free? Amazing. Perfect. Beautiful.

...It doesn't work, right now. Tragic.]

Eeh, technically not anymore~? Idia totes made it, but one of my teammates for the game took it! I'd totally be afraid he's here hiding somewhere, but, like, there's still food in the kitchen...

[ There's no reason Ace would turn down the offer to check things out, it does have his curiosity with the items that have already cropped up.

He stops dead in his tracks when he spots the fruit doll. Sorry, he's immediately reaching out for it without thinking or asking about it. Yeah, it really caught him by surprise. ]

[ Despite what Hien said about shooting people who's stealing stuff, his hook gun remains down as he watches Ace's expression. That isn't the expression someone has with the intention of theft. He thinks he knows Ace's basic personality enough to think that he won't steal it, so he lightly nudges Fai to take care of Ace. ]

[ Fai smiles softly, patting Hien on the knee to silently tell him that he’s got this. ]

You can go ahead and take that, Ace.

[ It’s very, very obvious that it’s his. ]

[Hien gets a little skeptical look from Phantom for that. The threatening aura score is completely lacking.]

I doubt our instructor would generously send something of mine that I would actually want. Or could use, at the moment.

[But he glances in curiosity until he catches sight of the mirror shard and... completely freezes up for a moment.]
