WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

I’ve never seen a wizard or a witch use a broom before. I thought it was just stories.

Summoning a broom is one of the first things a wizard learns to do, after making sugar.

[ Is that the first thing all wizards learn or just Owen… ]

Summoning a broom was never in anything I studied.

[It's the babiest of baby spells, Fai!! It's not his fault your magic is different!!]

That's unfortunate for you. Do you just have to walk everywhere?

[ Wizard sugar....... ]

We take cars sometimes, but usually we walk.

[ Doesn't seem like Fai minds it, at least. He likes walking! ]

That sounds horrible. Brooms are much better. If you ask nicely when I get my magic back, I'll let you see mine.

[ Fai points over to a broom. ]

Well, I did get a broom if you want to check it out. [ But also— ] How should I ask? "The Great and Powerful Owen, will you please give me the honor of riding on your glorious broom"?

[ maybe fai can't see it, but maybe owen can.

He glances over at the broom. Huh. He's never seen any wizard with a broom like that.]

[He gives Fai a flat look.]

And no, unless you're going to be sincere about. Just. I don't know. [huff puff] You can figure it out when I get my magic back.

[ But he laughs at Owen's response. Cute! ]

I'm completely, one hundred percent sincere.

[It's... not, but it's much fancier than this boring broom over here!!]

[ Will Fai let this joke go now? It's hard to say... ]

[ His expression turns just a little more serious as he pillows his face in his hands. ]

That depends on what you want to see. There are certain spells I won't do just for show. But if, for example, you wanted to see the world through my eyes exactly for a few moments, I can do that.

What's off-limits, then?

[But he doesn't press it.]

We don't have to fight. I'm just curious about how our magic differs and seeing what it feels like - I'm not even sure I'd be able to sense your magic at all, really.

Fighting spells are off-limits, so is anything that requires me to set up another dimension.

[ Please... it's so much work don't make him do that. ]

[Dimensional magic...........

Alright... What about scrying? Healing? Conjuration?

The future should not be foretold, I do not do healing, and I only do conjuration in specific circumstances.

[ Fai is... very picky about the type of magic he uses. ]

Really? You seem like the sort of person who would heal anyone who asked.

It would be easier if you just told me exactly what you wanted to show off.

[ He... can't heal. No matter how hard he tries. But he's not giving that kind of information up. ]
