WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[Idia shuffles to hold the gun in the crook of his arm wile picking up the broom to inspect the handle.]

... ah, yeah. This one is mine. You can see the little bit that's worn down here...

[he spaces out his hands to grip the length of the broom horizontally and- yep- the slightly lighter portions line up with his hands and the distance between them]

[as for why he holds his broom like that, well, don't worry about it]

[ Fai leans forward a little so he can look at where it's worn. ]

Ah, I see it now! What do you use these for?

[ He can't imagine that it's... cleaning... ]

[ Hien wants to badly point out why Idia holds his broom like that, but. He'll just keep quiet and watch. ]

Ah. W- Well... [he mellows back down a bit, regaining some of his shyness points]

Flying is a core part of our physical education classes... Cater actually plays sports with his sometime b- but- I'm no good at that.

[Normally he would declare that sports and physical education were a worthless hobby! ... but maybe there's a different kind of Idia that exists around Hien that doesn't quite want to brag about being terrible at something.]

Oh, it's a core part of your classes? How interesting... What does it help with?

[ Sports too, huh... Fai never knew brooms could be so diverse! ]

And here I thought brooms were just for cleaning the floors and whacking people.

As long as you can fly, that should be good enough, right? You don't gotta excel at it.

[ This was Hien's mindset even when he was actually 20 years old in an actual university and it's stuck with him for so long when he had to do things he didn't feel like doing. ]

W- Well, if you can levitate your broom with magic, you can eventually use it for large carriages and such... b- but I much prefer things like magwheels!

[he bounces on his heels a bit]

A perfect combination of speed, magic, and technology!

Oooh, floating carriages!

[ That sounds neat! Much cooler in a way than flying cars! ]

What are magwheels? That sounds cool too!

[ Hien also has no idea what a magwheel is, but. ]

Is it customizable?

That's right, it's customizable!

[kyaa, kyaa, m'lord static so smart!]

It's a magic vehicle with a single wheel... the basic customization includes color and decals but, ufufu, of course our dorm is the best at modifying their performance, as well!

Is modification something you're good at doing, Idia?

[ He remembers seeing "programming" under his talents, so Fai thinks modifications might fall somewhere under that umbrella.

Maybe?

He's not good at this stuff. ]

[ That vehicle sounds really cool and Hien wants to see it one day. ]

What's your own magwheel look like? And the specs on it?

Mm! I've been doing stuff like that since I was little.

[both pulling stuff together, putting to back together, and programming... there's a pretty nasty hacking worm out there that Idia says he made when he was five.]

The one we're working on right now is,

[Oh, and he starts talking. He is detailing every little thing about this magwheel his dorm is working on. Maximum speed, acceleration, color customization, and a few stats that probably mean nothing because they're involved with magic integration.]

[ Fai has no fuckin' clue what Idia is saying, but you know what? He's listening intently anyway, smiling and nodding whenever he feels like it's appropriate.

He's going to be supportive, even if he has no idea what's going on. ]

[ Meanwhile, Hien understands a lot better, and tries to relate the magical integration with what would be great on a vehicle. It works out. ]

Wow, Idia. I'm impressed. You're really talented.

[ Idia said his dorm, but he's included in that dorm, so Hien thinks it's fair to say that Idia deserves credit where it's due.

He also thinks it's really nice to have Idia talk about something that he likes. Idia seems so happy. ]

If possible, I'd definitely wanna go on it for a ride.

[Fai is doing a great job of smiling and nodding and I think we all should appreciate that.]

... Ah, well, while I'm taking the lead, the entire Ignihyde Dorm has been doing their best. It's... nice that I can rely on them, so I can have multiple projects going.

[Even though he's excited, this is also the rare glance of... a responsible Idia?!]

If it shows up- Ah, actually, if it shows up here that would be pretty troublesome for everyone else. But if it shows up anyways I'll make sure you can ride it!

Ooh, I’d like to ride on it too!

[ Just… raising his hand for that. ]

I agree with Hien, Idia. You’re talented. I hope you’re giving yourself the credit you deserve.

Seeing this side of you is really cool.

[ Hien is really genuine and gives him a smile with that. ]
