3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[Unsurprisingly, Owen is here, because both of them got items from him this week!!!

It's also not like he can get through the common room without them noticing him anyways, considering how he's limping, so he was doomed from the start.]

Oh? You'd shoot me again?

[That's directed at Hien before he even stops to look at what they have, and he's almost attempted to dismiss this whole thing because he really doesn't want to give Hien anything more when he notices the suitcase. Ah.]

[ Fai smacks Hien on the leg. He shot more people than just Fai??? Hien needs to chill.

He smiles at Owen like he didn't just do that. ]

[ With how old that suitcase is, it'd be strange for Owen to lie about it being his, so Fai believes him. ]

[ Hien almost scowls, but only keeps his head down so that he can keep studying Estelline language like the nerd he is. Don't smack him?? Wow. ]

At least it's obvious it wasn't Just Hien who's put Owen through the wringer - there are fading bruises on his throat and bandages wrapped around his thigh, visible thanks to the shorts he's wearing right now.

He picks up the case, turning it over in his hands as if checking for damage, but it's already so beat up is it even possible to tell... He opens it up to see it's completely empty - unsurprising, but still disappointing.]

You aren't even going to make me prove it's mine?

[ Fai gives Owen a dubious look. ]

I don't know why you'd want it if it wasn't yours... it's not in very good condition, and it's empty.

[ He's sorry for insulting your suitcase, though. ]

It's a magical tool.

But with nobody having their magic I guess it's useless.

[ Fai sits up properly on the couch, leaning forward a little. The magic nerd in him has been activated... ]

And I kept Cerberus in it, but I don’t know where he is right now.

Yes. Giant, three heads... I kept him locked up in there. I don't know where he would be right now, though.

Oh, so it functioned as some sort of pocket dimension?

[ He eyes the suitcase with more interest.

Fai won’t comment about where the creature might be, though. Who knows… ]

[He's not sad that Cerberus is gone. Totally not the case. But it will be annoying have to capture him again...]

But without it my magic would be much weaker, so it's good to have it back already.

[His eyes narrow.]

I wonder if I'll have to get my broom back like this, too.

[ Fai definitely wants to learn a little more about the intricacies of Owen’s magic. What exactly does this suitcase do…

You have a broom?

[ Huh. He didn’t know that the myths were true in some worlds… ]

Well, not right now.

[He will gladly show off later if they get their powers back, but only if Fai will praise him and feed his ego.]

But yeah. It's the best way to travel long distances.

[At least when he doesn't have Mithra around but Owen's out here being a LCW.]

I’ve never seen a wizard or a witch use a broom before. I thought it was just stories.

Summoning a broom is one of the first things a wizard learns to do, after making sugar.

Summoning a broom was never in anything I studied.

[It's the babiest of baby spells, Fai!! It's not his fault your magic is different!!]

That's unfortunate for you. Do you just have to walk everywhere?

We take cars sometimes, but usually we walk.

[ Doesn't seem like Fai minds it, at least. He likes walking! ]

That sounds horrible. Brooms are much better. If you ask nicely when I get my magic back, I'll let you see mine.

Big metal boxes that move!

[ Fai points over to a broom. ]

Well, I did get a broom if you want to check it out. [ But also— ] How should I ask? "The Great and Powerful Owen, will you please give me the honor of riding on your glorious broom"?

He glances over at the broom. Huh. He's never seen any wizard with a broom like that.]

[He gives Fai a flat look.]
