02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[ Fai spends most of Sunday lazing around, so he doesn't get to the small mall until Monday. He ends up spending most of the day there, taking his sweet time looking through the shops.

Relatively early in the morning, Fai is in the bakery, messing around with the espresso machine. Thankfully, he actually knows how to use this piece of equipment, which feels like a rarity in this world. He'll wave down anyone he sees passing by or coming into the bakery. ]

Want some coffee?

[ Later in the morning, Fai is sifting through some of the cute journals and and pens in the stationery store, torn between a few different options. If he gets close to anyone else in the store with him, he'll hold up a journal with cute kittens all over it and another with little pawprints gracing the cover. ]

[ And then in the afternoon, Fai takes some time looking around the arcade. He can be found trying to figure out different games like claw machines, skee ball, and pinball. He'll welcome either a challenge or some tips on how to play the games here. ]

[ The karaoke bar is an interesting spot, reminding Fai a little of a bar he went to in a video game world months and months ago, where a singer serenaded everyone with dulcet tones. This feels entirely different, however, as there are no professional singers and no informants. Rather, it's an empty bar with a large, empty screen on the wall that's made to display lyrics. At least, that's what Fai has garnered from all of this.

Sometime in the early evening, Fai plops himself right down on one of the seats near the bar, crossing his legs as he looks expectantly at Hien. ]

Are you going to make something fancy for me?

Hm, yeah.

[ He hops over the bar counter like some showoff and looks around. ]

Any preferences?

[ Fai whistles when Hien jumps over. Showoff indeed! ]

Think over what you know about me and decide on the drink to give me. I'll grade you.

[ Something Fai would like... perhaps something on the sweeter side, not on the rocks, and in a fancy martini glass.

So he gets to work after finding the appropriate stuff... or at least he thinks it is. He didn't bring his tablet, and all this is language that he's still trying to learn. He can read some of it, but it's like knowing "is" and "at" and that's about it. ]

I can't fucking read.

Pfft!

[ He laughs, giving Hien an amused grin. ]

That's fine. Just use whatever looks good! We're here for a specific purpose, so taste doesn't matter that much.

[ Xingqiu comes up over to Fai when he's paying attention to those claw machines... ]

Oh, what's this? Some kind of game?

Seems like it! I think you try to grab one of the stuffed animals inside with the little claw-like thing.

[ He puts his hand on the lever. ]

And you control it with this.

Hmm...okay.

[ Xingqiu thinks he can easily manage a game like this. ]

Want to see who can get the most stuffed animals, then?

[ Some harmless fun never hurt anybody! ]

Of course I do!

[ Fai slides over to the claw machine right next to the one they're standing in front of so that Xingqiu can have the one closest to him. ]

I'm ready whenever you are!

Alright. I'm more than ready...so, let's start!

[ LET'S GOOOO

Xingqiu wrangles the thing fiercely as if he's in the middle of a car race, not exactly...accustomed to the machine just yet. He might accidentally break something in the process but no one can say he's not doing his best!! ]

But Fai puts down the notebook with kitty paws all over the cover, determined to keep the one with kittens. ]

[ He hums and picks up a similar notebook. He already has several, but who's counting and who's going to stop him? ]

Mm, they are. I don't have one myself, but perhaps in the future, I will take one under my paw. [ pls..... ] And you?

[ Oh! A quick answer! Fai raises his eyebrows before he settles into a grin. ]

[ He blinks in minor confusion for a second. Once he looks and confirms that there are more of them, he takes the offering from Fai. ]

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there's no shortage of demand for these sorts of designs – they're pretty cute.

[ That is an understatement. ]

[ Chongyun's never had it before, but he's heard that there's a bar in Mondstadt that serves it - and various other drinks made with it. ]

I'm surprised that they have it here. Isn't it a little exotic?

[ Chongyun's world must not have easily accessible coffee... interesting. ]

I've always had coffee easily available to me in different worlds, so it's incredibly common to me.

Different worlds...?

[ Fai must mean metaphorically. Different cultures are sometimes described as different worlds, aren't they? (Spoilers: he missed the memo on the different worlds bit of their current adventure, whoops.) ]

Huh. Is it equally as popular everywhere you've been - as it is in Mondstadt? I heard a rumor that the Tianquan herself traveled all the way there for a cup.

Mondstadt? Never heard of it.

[ But if coffee is popular there, maybe he should visit. ]

It was relatively popular in Celes, since it can be served warm and Celes was a cold place.

Ah, it's the neighboring city-state to Liyue.

Personally, I'd prefer it cold even in a cold place...
