02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

Hm... I put a hardboiled egg on the blue boy's head when he was really distracted with a book.

[ Sorry, Xingqiu. He's not really good at pronouncing and doesn't want to butcher it. ]

I did the same with Phantom except he was sleeping so I put a stack of dice on his head.

[ He laughs. ]

You’re so funny. [ And weird!! But that goes without saying. ] Did they complain?

Phantom did. The blue boy took it in good stride... I think.

[ He shrugs. ]

I helped make a blanket fort for Phantom, so I think it was good penance.

Blue boy...

[ Xingqiu? He's very blue, in both wardrobe and hair. But Chongyun has blue hair too... Hmmmm. ]

I'm a little jealous. I want a blanket fort. [ ... ] That's a cute thing to do, though.

It was because he was worried about people pranking him when vulnerable.

[ Which he completely understands, so that's why he brought it up. ]

Now that I think about it, I think that blue boy bullies Chongyun occasionally out of friendship.

[ Chongyun is a lot easier to say. ]

Ah... they're on the same team, aren't they?

[ Fai drinks a little more, which is hard when he's still resting his head on the counter.

He supposes a blanket fort would provide some sense of security. ]

I'm going to turn our room into a blanket fort.

But I like using the blanket to cover my body when I sleep...

Hien chugs down the bottle of cognac as if he is the thirstiest man in the world. ]

Then we'll detach one of the blankets so you can sleep with it and put it back up when you get back up.

Fai watches him chug the drink with interest. ]

Wow, you're really good at that.

[ Is he into it? It's hard to say. ]

Yeah. Sometimes you just wanna drink a lot.

[ That's all he'll say about it. ]

It sounds like you'll have to do that part with the blanket though, since you'll definitely be awake more than I am.

That's fine. Another thing on my list of chores!

[ But it doesn't sound like he cares about it.

He takes a few more sips out of his bottle. ]

You're so great, Fai. Doing all these chores when I can't give two shits to do them.

[ Hien isn't all that messy, but he still appreciates it. ]

I like doing things for people...

[ He laughs a little. Would he admit that if he wasn't sort of drunk? Probably not, but it's hard to say. ]

I know you do. That's why you're a softie like I am.

[ Damn right. He chugs half of the next bottle. ]

So you admit it! You're a softie.

[ He's marking it as Fai: 1, Hien: 0 in his mind, even though Hien should have some victories there already. ]

We already admitted we were softies to each other, stupid.

[ He won't forget. ]

You're cute when you're drunk.

You're going to make me sober by saying stuff like that.

[ Because that's totally how it works.

He drinks some more to make up for it. ]

I'll keep saying it to make you sober then.

I never really asked, but what do you think of this situation anyway?

[ Hmmmm. How does he put all of his thoughts into words, especially when his mind feels so... out of it already? ]

I wonder how much power the ones who brought us here have.

[ Considering the sheer amount of power some of them have already, it's an impressive feat. ]

I do believe they will let us go when we finish this course, but that makes me wonder what information they're collecting and what they'll use it for. [ ... ] Something happened before we got here too, what with this abandoned mall and the lack of students at our school.

[ Hien just looks at Fai like "you wanna discuss plot clues while you're tipsy???" ]

Are you curious about it?

Yes and no. Sometimes we're better off not knowing certain things.

[ Yeah... He has another sip. ]

If it's bad, I don't want the kids to know about it.

Yeah. Who knows what they'll do? Emotions can easily run high in a place like this... not that I'm an exception.

[ Sure. Okay. He's still good at controlling it at least. ]

I said all that about what I was earlier, but it's actually not that hard to drag me into situations like these. So I hope you don't think of me as a standard.

[ He thinks that Hien might be a bit of an exception, but the other way around. His emotions seem to run hollow before anything else.

And... it sounds like he's not very good at utilizing the power he has. At all. ]

It's hard to get me into these sorts of situations. Of course, I'd come willingly if it meant I could protect my kids.

[ ... ]

But I was a bit busy at the time, you see.

Yeah, since you're a really strong magician and all. It must have been emotionally distracting too.

I was... in a vulnerable position, so it certainly was emotionally distracting.

[ Because, you know, having someone you view as a son about to kill you is very distressing. ]
