02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

Yes and no. Sometimes we're better off not knowing certain things.

Yeah. Who knows what they'll do? Emotions can easily run high in a place like this... not that I'm an exception.

[ Sure. Okay. He's still good at controlling it at least. ]

I said all that about what I was earlier, but it's actually not that hard to drag me into situations like these. So I hope you don't think of me as a standard.

[ He thinks that Hien might be a bit of an exception, but the other way around. His emotions seem to run hollow before anything else.

And... it sounds like he's not very good at utilizing the power he has. At all. ]

It's hard to get me into these sorts of situations. Of course, I'd come willingly if it meant I could protect my kids.

[ ... ]

Yeah, since you're a really strong magician and all. It must have been emotionally distracting too.

I was... in a vulnerable position, so it certainly was emotionally distracting.

[ Because, you know, having someone you view as a son about to kill you is very distressing. ]

[ Sure is. Hien felt that he could deduce that from what Fai has told him so far and his unwillingness to talk about it. ]

I wonder if she just pulled all of us from emotionally vulnerable situations?

It's certainly possible.

[ He glances over at Hien. ]

It would make sense why you ended up here too.

[ Despite being susceptible to it, which is what Fai thinks now. ]

Guess so. It would make the kids even more emotionally volatile.

[ Which... he thinks would be a pain. He finishes up the second bottle of cognac that he brought and sighs. ]

Man, I'm gonna fucking feel it tomorrow.

[partymagician]

Me too. We'll be some old guys with hangovers tomorrow.

[ He laughs, clearly amused as he finally sits back up.

Ugh... that made him a little dizzy. ]

But we're having a good time, right?

Well... yeah. I think I'm having a good time.

[ It's not an obvious fun thing to do, but chilling and drinking with someone is having a good time for him. ]

You gonna finish that? I might bring a bottle back to campus.

[partymagician]

Yep! But I’ll finish it back in our room.

[ He stands up, doing surprisingly well on his feet despite the fact that he feels decently drunk. ]

I don’t want to be caught here when it’s past eight.

[ He winks. ]

Why are you winking at me while talking about our curfew? You weirdo.

[ He gets up to grab another bottle and returns to Fai's side. ]

Let's get going.

It's called charm, Hien.

[ He knows you have some in there deep down.

Fai snags the other bottle Hien got for him earlier before motioning for Hien to follow him back. ]

[ Hien will follow and is on guard to catch Fai is he stumbles for some reason. Though, honestly... he needs to think about himself. ]

So you're tryna charm me.

[partymagician]

[ Fai seems to be... doing just fine, actually! It doesn't look like he's swaying or unsteady in his steps, even though he's carrying two bottles of alcohol. ]

I don't need to do that. You're already fond of me.

[selfconcept]

Then stop tryna charm me. Weirdo.

[ He just said he didn't need to do that. Hien sure sounds tipsy at the very least. ]

I think you're the weirdo, you weirdo.

[ He laughs, guiding them both through the slightly eerie rows of abandoned cars. ]

...Unless you want me to try to charm you.

Yeah? Then try to charm me. I bet you can't.

[partymagician]

[ Fai stops, setting both of his bottles down on the ground so he can reach for Hien's free hand and bring it up to his face, his lips lightly brushing against his knuckles. ]

You're right. I probably can't, not when you have so much life experience.

I'm not your prince nor your princess.

[ He's not into that, apparently. ]

So maybe you should rethink your options before I think that you're mocking me.

[partymagician]

[ Fai drops his hand. ]

Clearly I'm the prince in this equation, Hien, considering I used to be one.

[ A subtle lore drop... ]

I guess I don't know how to charm you! What a difficult guy.

[selfconcept]

[ When they're next to a car, Hien stretches his arm out, slamming his hand onto the car like a kabedon. ]

More like you give up way too easily. Life experience will just be that—experience.

[partymagician]

[ He raises his eyebrows out of surprise, but he doesn't seem to react much outside of that as he smiles at Hien. ]

Oh? But this boldness has to have come from somewhere, if not life experience.

If you think this is bold, then maybe you really are lacking in experience.

[ He withdraws his hand. ]
