02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[ Please. He can carry Hien when he's sober, but he doesn't want that responsibility when he can actually get drunk here thanks to his lack of magic.

He has a sip of the drink, making a face. ]

Hm. It's... interesting. Very fruity.

[ But it's not terrible. ]

[ Hien honestly doesn't know if he wants to get plastered, but he'll decide on that later. ]

Not to your liking? Tell me how I can improve with the drink.

It's fine, Hien. Don't worry about it.

[ He has another sip, taking a long one this time. ]

Fix something for yourself.

Listen, if you're gonna get wasted, you need to get wasted on good drinks.

[ So he won't budge. ]

So picky!

[ He laughs. The determination is cute, though. ]

Just stick with a rum and coke, or a gin and tonic for me then. I like sweet drinks, but I think that's putting us a little out of our depth for now.

Alright.

[ Rum and coke. Gin and tonic. It would immensely help if he could read these labels. So he does what he does best: trial and error. He takes a bit of every drink in a shot glass and drinks them all to determine what drinks they are, or at least close to what he can assume.

So.

Fai now gets rum and coke. Easy. It is no longer in a martini cup though. ]

[ At some point (and after finishing his strange martini/piña colada mix), Fai moves up to the bar just to watch Hien test out every drink.

When Hien finally hands over a rum and coke, Fai grins. ]

Thanks, honey. You went through a lot of effort.

You're welcome, dear. I'm glad you recognized my efforts.

[ With that said, he gets his own drink--a cognac. It's going to be in a regular glass cup because it's quantity over quality for him right now. ]

Nope! I'll refill on my own.

[ He was paying attention to what Hien poured into his glass, so he'll have no problem.

Fai leans forward on the bar, pillowing his face in his hands after he takes a long sip of his drink. ]

So, tell me a fun fact about yourself.

[selfconcept]

I can actually sing, but my voice is horrible as you know. I usually borrow another voice to sing well... from another one of my selves in other worlds.

[ That sure is a loaded fun fact! He places the rum and coke bottles in a spot that's easier for Fai to reach. ]

[partymagician]

[ Sure is! Fai has to chew on that for a long moment as he nurses his drink. ]

You're actually able to borrow from other versions of yourself?

[ That feels almost entirely unheard of. Although... hm. Tomoyo did something similar in Piffle, though not to that extent. ]

[selfconcept]

Yeah. I'm the metaphysical concept of the Self.

[ Says it like it's nothing. It's fine. Do things fall in place yet. ]

I can borrow anything that my other selves have, whether it's a portion of their body, supernatural abilities, magic, appearances... you name it.

Hyuu~

[ That deserves a fake whistle! Fai reaches over the bar and pulls on Hien's cheek. ]

Who knew you were such a big deal!

[ But if Fai feels any particular way about it, it doesn't show on his face or through their connection. ]

Shtop that.

[ Stop pulling on his cheek?? Ow. ]

I'm a big deal in the worst way.

Bragging, aren't you?

[ He laughs, letting go of Hien's cheek so he can have more of his drink. ]

Well, that doesn't matter here.

[ And it doesn't seem to bother Fai much either, because he relates to it, though on a much lower level. ]

[ He supposes it doesn't, even if he chooses to tell Fai why exactly he's a big deal in the worst way.

...

Fuck it. ]

I'm what others would call an Overseer. I look over the omniverses that houses every single world there is. Anyway, I've never felt like a god in my life despite that.

[ Hm. ]

I also eat worlds.

[ Irony.

He chugs down two glasses of cognac. ]

Ah.

[ Hien chugging two glasses immediately after admitting that tells a story. And if Hien is expecting to feel fear or anger or pity from Fai? He doesn't. ]

That must be a heavy burden to bear.

[selfconcept]

[ Funnily enough, Fai shouldn't be feeling anything negative coming from Hien either at the admittance, because there's nothing he feels about that, but it's a different sort of apathy.

He shrugs. ]

It's just something that will happen in the future, so maybe you'll die before I get to eat you along with whatever world you're in.

[partymagician]

[ Fai won't comment about whether or not he'll be alive, since he'll most likely die when he goes back to his world, if time happens to unfreeze. ]

So it's inevitable.

[ ...

Part of him doesn't know what to do with that information, so Fai just drinks the rest of his drink. ]

You have things you want to ask me, don't you? Go ahead. I might not answer it in full, but I'll give you part of an answer.

[ It's only fair after learning something like that. ]

Why don't you think you deserve good things?

[ He downs two more glasses of cognac. Hell, he will even take the entire bottle and go sit next to Fai instead of bwing behind this counter. ]

[ There are a lot of reasons, and for a lot of them he doesn't want to get into it. He looks at Hien, feeling mild concern over how much he's drinking.

But when Hien sits next to him, Fai grabs the bottle of cognac from his hand and takes a few long sips. He'll need it to answer that question. ]

I'm cursed. Anyone who gets involved with me suffers in some way. [ ... ] You said curses don't exist here, but that doesn't mean I don't still carry it with me.

[selfconcept]

[ It's Hien's turn at the bottle, so he pries it from Fai's hand and drinks straight from the bottle. ]

That's such a stupid curse. Everyone suffers at some point in their life. It might as well not even be there.

[partymagician]

[ He laughs, but it sounds a tad more bitter than his usual soft and airy laugh. Fai reaches out to snatch the bottle from Hien's hand. ]

Perhaps it's a real curse, perhaps it's not.

[ But he sure has been told it, over and over and over—

Fai takes a few long sips from the bottle. ]

I do have a real curse, you know. I'll kill the first person I come across that has more magic than me.

[ And with his age and the fact that he's a world traveler... Fai knows he's giving away how powerful he really is with that too. ]

Ha... do you think you have more magic than I do? I said that I'm not good at magic in particular compared to other people like me, but I still have a lot of magic energy to spare.

[ He's genuinely curious. Fai sounds really strong. ]

[partymagician]

More than an Overseer? You're a class of being I don't know anything about.

[ He has another long sip from the bottle. ]

It's possible, but I wouldn't run with that assumption either.

[ So... he'll just be glad he doesn't have his curse active here! ]
