05 - week five

WEEK FIVE

Come Sunday morning, the portals around Estelline fade away, but not all of the oddities hanging around disappear so quickly. The recreations of your dreams and memories are still around, ever changing and shifting. Whatever it is that brought these things here hasn’t ended, not yet.

You don’t have time to worry about all of that, though, even if you know you should exercise caution once two of you found yourselves on the bad end of a monster’s claws. The course still isn’t over, though, even if the portals changed lesson plans. Everything continues on, with new places to explore as the fog pushes back once again. This week still feels a little more like what you’re familiar with, though, after Saturday’s lack of lessons.

At first I didn't mind doing this experiment thing, but if the people who oversee this project doesn't know jack shit about how people work, I'll change my mind.

[ Anyway, he walks over to the handheld devices. ]

Is there any product you're interested in? I can walk you through them.

[ He points to a Walkman. Looks like it’s here for Retro Vibes. Or something. ]

... This is ancient compared to the other stuff here.

[ Hien takes a look. ]

It plays music when it has battery life and you can listen after you plug in the headphones. You need to get a set of stuff though, like CDs or cassette tapes, depending on what Walkman you're using.

[ Fai nods as he picks it up. It's pink and sleek, much sleeker than the older models Hien knows. ]

[ But does he. ]

... You don't get it, huh?

Ah... now is your chance to call me an old man...

Why? I doubt your place had these things.

[ Since, you know. Castles and magic stuff and all. ]

[ That's true. Although, he should have tried harder to learn the technology in the worlds he's visited. Oh well.

At least Hien's answer makes him smirk. ]

Well... it was the only thing that was available at the time, so it's not like I had a choice if I wanted to play music.

[ And he didn't want to carry a stereo like a real music junkie. ]

You've really experienced all different types of time periods...

[ Fai knows there's no need to comfort Hien over something like that, since he's already come to terms with it, so he says nothing at all. ]

Hien just gives Fai the deadest look he can ever muster before turning away to pull his camera out of his bag and tries to take a surprise shot of Fai. ]

[ Hien will get a lovely picture of Fai staring wide-eyed at the camera, clearly taken aback by the photo. ]

[ He shakes the photo until it develops and then shows Fai... well, more like shoving it into his face. ]

See? Beautiful. I'm gonna keep this picture forever.

[ also because it's a rare moment that Fai looks surprised. ]

I don't believe that.

[ He puts the camera and photo away. ]
