05 - week five

WEEK FIVE

Come Sunday morning, the portals around Estelline fade away, but not all of the oddities hanging around disappear so quickly. The recreations of your dreams and memories are still around, ever changing and shifting. Whatever it is that brought these things here hasn’t ended, not yet.

You don’t have time to worry about all of that, though, even if you know you should exercise caution once two of you found yourselves on the bad end of a monster’s claws. The course still isn’t over, though, even if the portals changed lesson plans. Everything continues on, with new places to explore as the fog pushes back once again. This week still feels a little more like what you’re familiar with, though, after Saturday’s lack of lessons.

Can I have the knife.

[ Fai looks up from his tablet. ]

You know, Hien, there are plenty of knives still in the kitchen.

There's one in the room too.

[ Anyway. ]

I'm just kidding... you can't cut the bread well otherwise.

[ He sighs. ]

You really like knives, don’t you?

[ But he doesn’t sound particularly bothered. ]

Have some bread.

I like guns more... but knives are infinite use until they break.

[ He takes a piece of the baguette and eats. Yummy. ]

Someone should come in and hug you soon.

[ Hmm. Bows and arrows are cooler, in his opinion. ]

Are you predicting the future or saying what you think should happen?

Both.

[ It's definitely both. Hien grabs a nearby chair and sits. ]

You deserve lots of hugs.

Do I, now?

[ He only half sounds like he believes it—sure, he believes that Hien means it. But does he deserve it? Hmm. Fai doesn’t know about that. ]

Are you going to have a cookie?

I hear that doubt in your voice and I don't like it.

[ He sighs. ]

Yeah. Gimme whichever.

[ He hands Hien a shortbread cookie. ]

Sorry. Some habits are hard to get rid of, you know.

As long as you're trying...

[ Hien just opens his mouth instead. Feed him. ]

[ He pops the cookie right into Hien's mouth. ]

How is it?

It's good as expected. I wish you could make these every day...

[ He even savors it, taking small bites of the cookie. ]

And what reward would I get for getting up early and baking cookies every day?

[ The compliment makes him happy, though... ]

A morning hug and my appreciation.

[ He nods to emphasize. ]

Hmmm...

[ He pretends to think it over as he feeds Hien another cookie. ]

Request denied.

... Fine. Coffee is good enough.

[ His perfect malewife... he nibbles on the cookie a little. ]

[ He smiles over at Hien. ]

Of course, I'll make cookies if you're a really good boy.

You think you can tame me?

[ That question is usually asked with a very aggressive tone, but Hien's tone is light. ]

[ He smiles at Hien as he grabs a chocolate chip cookie for himself. ]

Of course I do. I know I could do it easily.

You sound confident.

[ He keeps nibbling on the cookie. It's really good... a shame that Fai can't prepare a batch every day. ]

[ Fai tilts his head. ]

Why wouldn’t I be?

Why would you be?

[ Hien gets a little huffy so he starts foregoing savoring the cookies and just eats them how he does normally. ]

[partymagician]

[ He shrugs. ]

Just a feeling I have.

[ And he notices now that Hien is practically inhaling them. ]

Leave some for the rest of the class.

"Just a feeling", my foot.

[ Hmph!! Though he stops inhaling the cookies now. ]

I better get a hug counter after this. Now that I think about it... I should probably reassure you that I didn't threaten people to write nice things on the card.
