3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

( OOC Note: Luci, Mutsu, and Mae will each receive a small roomba! Congrats on the successful egg drop. It's a tiny little friend that cleans extra well, though this also means its trash compartment is a little smaller so it'll need to be cleaned more often. )

[ On Monday evening, a strange sort of whirring noise can be heard traversing the dorm halls. This is accompanied by occasional clack of plastic against walls and whatever else might be littered around. clack, clack, whirrr. If anyone chooses to investigate, they will find Luci riding atop his new roomba like the newly appointed overlord.

Early on, he can be found lounging and smoking a cigarette. As he slowly whirs past anyone that stops to notice, he tosses them a-- ]

Sup.

[ Later on, he curls up for a nap on his new robot minion. His hands and arms stick out, as if avoiding putting any weight on them. Minion just keeps doing its automatic thing. Until it dies. Then there's just a demon not-cat sleeping on a roomba in the middle of the hallway. ]

[ Oh. Hello. Hien spots Luci and the Roomba in the middle of the hall and the urge to pet him rises again, so he goes to gently pick up the roomba and sits against the wall of the hall, placing it down next to him and starts gently petting Luci. ]

[ This is fine. The movement doesn't wake him. Left up to instinct, the purring starts early this time, soft and rumbly.
Eventually he shifts to his side, stretching a bit while his arms still move awkwardly.

Sleepy sleepy mumbling... ]

[ Very cute. Hien continues to pet him, occasionally scratching his ears and under his chin. ]

[ He lifts his chin to give him better access, but the stretch of his limbs that comes with it pricks the pain in his hands. It wakes up with a groggy curse and a glare. More at the pain than anything.

But, upon seeing it's just the doc, he settles back down again. If Hien is gonna keep petting him, Luci isn't complaining. After a yawn, he greets him-- ]

Yo. See my new ride?

[ Yup. Luci has now clocked into petting hours. ]

Yeah, it's a pretty sweet ride. Where'd you get it?

[totalcatastrophe]

[ Good, even if his purring goes quieter now that he's conscious. ]

Dunno, just showed up. Guess the overlords liked my egg count. Think I should tape some shivs to it?

[ Luci the purring machine... ]

Aesthetically? It would look awesome. But for mobility, not so much. How's your leg, by the way?

[ Hien asks even though he knows that Luci is fine. ]

Ugh, I guess. But I wanted to call it ankle-stabber.

[ Luci holds out one leg in a silent answer to that question, flexing it and wiggling his toes before tucking it back in. ]

Hey, I forgot to ask: should I call you Dr. Meow meow now?

[ Ankle-stabber... Luci has funny naming conventions. At first, Hien's expression seems blanker than usual, but it resumes its "normal amount of blankness" on his face before answering Luci's question. ]

Sure, if that's what you want. I thought you'd call me eggface.

[ once the roomba dies, flat tilts his head, observing both luci and the roomba as if wondering what to do. ]

There's probably a place to charge this somewhere...

[ and thus flat will go to pick up the roomba--with luci still on it--and start carrying it in search for a charging dock. ]

[ Luci stays asleep for a moment, but Flat's annoying voice pierces right into his dreams. His take, not mine. Anyway, he sits up, letting his legs dangle off the side as he leans his head back to look up at Flat. ]

Hey man, where we headed?

[ Okay, maybe he wasn't actually listening at first. ]

[ no problem! flat gives luci a nod and a peppy smile. ]

Your roomba ran out of battery so I was looking for a charging port for it.

[ as you do. ]

Huh, so that's how you feed this thing.

[ He pats the minion as he looks forward again. ]

Why's it called a roomba?

[ Kawase is also smoking, but at this odd scene he just stares, his cigarette drooping from between his lips. ]

Hey. [ That's perfunctory, because a second later- ] What are you doing?

[totalcatastrophe]

[ It's comically slow moving as he looks up at Kawase. Luci's eye follows him as his minion keeps persevering. ]

Smoking. What're you doing?

[ whirrr. ]

[teidaisei]

[ He's not answering that cause he's still trying to get a handle on what the hell he's seeing. ]

You're not even human. Why would you need to smoke?

[totalcatastrophe]

Pret-ty sure humans don't need to smoke either.

[ An exaggerated exhale, but he's too low for that smoke cloud to get very far. ]

[teidaisei]

Neither do cats!

[ This is the stupid argument. ]

[totalcatastrophe]

Not a cat.

[ Luci corrects him over the continued background noise of his new ride. Another drag. ]

I'll keep calling you a cat until you tell me what you're supposed to be.

[ It's fine, background noise is nothing when you perpetually have a yappy dog as your roommate. ]

I'm a demon.

[ Yeah, he deepens his voice there considerably. But then he's right back to lounging again. ],

sabo was just watching the roomba go around and around cleaning up whatever was on the ground with luci napping on it quietly. this is a complicated feeling that he's having given the fact that, well, their ""first"" interaction was egg throwing.

he'll watch some more and see if luci is really just gonna be napping like this for much longer. ]

[ Luci keeps sleeping for a while longer if Sabo doesn't disturb him. But eventually he'll wake up and stretch... exactly the way you'd expect a cat to arch his back in the morning. His eye opens and he spies Sabo, but he has no shame. He just moves to sit on the edge of his roomba, opening the compartment where some of the over packed lint puffs out onto the ground. Oh, that's what that was for...

That's where he'd kept his matches. Luci speaks around lighting it up with one of them anyway before tucking the pack back in. The lint, he seems disinterested with. ]

[ you know, while sabo doesn't have respect for luci he can't exactly fault him for what he's doing here. the extremely cat-like stretch is amusing to some degree. if he didn't say anything, he might make for a good pet?

hm. for the moment, sabo will just chuckle. ]
