WEEK SIX

Sunday starts with more aches and pains than you might be used to. Florence patched people up after Saturday’s lesson, sure, but it’s not a complete cure - not to mention it doesn’t ease the sting of betrayal. Some classmates that you thought would cooperate wound up breaking your trust in the end, and this week will be interesting with the fallout.

It’s hard to say what this week will have in store otherwise. Things are changing, and it’s not clear what this means for all of you. On the bright side, however, the creatures and places you once knew from home have suddenly disappeared, so that's less that you need to worry about. There are new areas for you to look at as well.

Anyway, Hien sits across from Owen, so maybe he won't be getting stabbed today. He also brings out some familiar chess pieces. They're all knights.

They're out of reach, of course. ]

He frowns at Hien as he sits across to them, before his eyes narrow at the sight of the chess pieces.]

Talk about what? Are you still mad about Saturday?

[ But that's not even guaranteed from how calm Hien seems to be. Now that Owen saw the pieces, he puts all of them back into his bag except one. Then he gets a small paintbrush with some paint. ]

[ Hien leans back so that Owen can't reach even more. ]

They help recharge magical energy when you can't visit your mana area.

[He's not above crawling onto the table!! So that's what he's doing right now, whoops.]

[ Hien didn't take his shoes off, so, Owen's stomach? Meet Hien's foot. He doesn't kick him though, since he's just doing that to keep a distance. ]

Must be real important to you, huh? I wonder if that's why you sought replacements by taking them from the common area.

[ He's still maintaining that distance with his foot to Owen's stomach. No pain. Don't worry(?). ]

[Don't worry, Owen isn't concerned or not with whether Hien is causing him pain. He just looks angry as hell.]

They're still not yours to mess with as you want. Why do you want them and why do you want to paint them?

[ Revenge? Maybe. Hien can be pretty petty for it too. Though it doesn't look like he's enjoying himself with that blank expression of his. ]

Are you really that pissed about the stupid game you want to ruin my things?

[They're just chess pieces, but here he is, getting pissy.]

I wasn't pissed about being betrayed. I was angry because you rubbed it in. The game is irrelevant. Besides, like I said, I'm used to ruining what people have. You won't be the first, nor will you be the last.

[ Hien still speaks calmly to Owen. ]

There's still obvious hesitation, before Owen pulls back.]

Whatever. You're right. They're just chess pieces, so I don't care.

[ He places one on the table between them whenever Owen gets off the table. No catch. Owen can just take it, though Hien is definitely watching for his reaction. ]

[He snatches it, watching out for any interference from Hien.]

[He's giving Hien a suspicious look, trying to see if there's any obvious signs of chess piece storage.]

[ Hien makes it obvious that he has more pieces by letting Owen see that his bag has some more. It's pretty subtle though, so it doesn't seem like he's showing them off on purpose. ]

I like taking in information if it isn't studying.
