3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

( OOC Note: Luci, Mutsu, and Mae will each receive a small roomba! Congrats on the successful egg drop. It's a tiny little friend that cleans extra well, though this also means its trash compartment is a little smaller so it'll need to be cleaned more often. )

[ Fai grins down at him. ]

Sure do! One of my traveling companions taught me how to make it. Is that what you're in the mood for?

Leave the shells in.

[ Luci orders, but it's so lazy that it's hard to take seriously. Followed by almost mumbling, bordering on grumbling-- ]

Everyone knows that dumb recipe.

[ But him!! Since he didn't get to see Sabo make it. Which means, he is openly watching this process. ]

Do you know how to make it, Mr. Egg?

[ Fai will be leaving the shells in, though, since he made the request at all. ]

[totalcatastrophe]

Pft. Eggs and rice what's so hard about that?

[ That's not an answer.
But he's still watching, not bothering to hide his curiosity really. ]

[ Fai turns so that Luci can't quite see what he's doing. ]

Well, there's seasoning too, you know.

[ Although it's nothing complicated, since they don't have a whole lot here anyway. ]

[totalcatastrophe]

Yeah? What kind?

[ Luci tries to crane his neck to see around Fai to see what he's up to. His head goes one way while his tail creeps around the other.

He's... going to try and smack Fai's shoulder, or whatever he can reach with the maximum stretch of his spearheaded tail. Of course, success or not, his sneaky tail tries to exit the crime scene quickly to look innocent. ]

[ He laughs when Luci smacks his shoulder, finally giving him better access to see what he's doing, which is frying the rice. ]

Pepper, salt, and soy sauce mostly. I'm sure plenty of seasonings can be added to the chicken too... it's too bad we have none.

[ But rice and egg is delicious too. ]

Why not steal some from the ramens? They all got these little pillow bags full of seasonings.

[ He means... the seasoning packets. ]

But then someone will have plain ramen!

[ And he has no idea how good that would actually taste.

Then again, Luci also requested egg shells in his dish, so maybe it doesn’t matter. ]

[totalcatastrophe]

Who cares? Snooze ya lose.

[ A beat, where he's staring at the cooking again, and then he sighs in annoyance. Somehow, he manages to sound interested, slightly bored, and impatient all at once. ]

Okay, boring chicken. What's next?

[partymagician]

[ Fai is honestly impressed with all the emotions contained in that sigh. ]

The egg, of course!

[ Which he’ll start working on now. ]

It’s too bad we don’t have any fresh produce. Vegetables would make this even better.

[totalcatastrophe]

Yeah, crush that egg.

[ He somehow finds the energy to sound excited about this part. It's his favorite. But the vegetable thing has him giving Fai a once over before mumbling under his breath. ] You sure look like you eat a lot of vegetables. [ Said way too flat to tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing. ]

Man, cooking takes too long.

[partymagician]

It's always worth it, though.

[ So long as you're good at it.

Fai just... drops the egg hard enough into the pan that it cracks, and he takes the spatula and crushes it up more. Fun. ]

Are you saying I'm too skinny?

[totalcatastrophe]

Guess so. Because even if you suck at it, there's always the chance you might kill someone by accident.

[ Yes, he means that as a positive. ]

Hmm. [ Luci pretends to think, tail snaking over with the intention of poking at Fai's sides to investigate. He's not trying to be sneaky or insistent this time, so it's open season on grabs, smacks, or avoidance. Your call, croissant. ]

[ Fai just lets Luci do whatever he wants... unless he does anything that might be ticklish. Then he'll smack Luci away. ]

I suppose that's a benefit. But if it's that bad, I don't know anyone would want to eat it at all.

... tw foodborne illnesses?

[totalcatastrophe]

[ Luci's angling for some testing jabs to Fai's sides and ribs. Good luck, tail. But it's worth any potential smacks. ]

Who cares if you want to? Good luck telling if it's got salmonella before you shove it in your pie hole.

Ah… you do have a point…

[ He might be pretty skinny, but he is surprisingly solid too. But when Luci continues poking him, Fai opts for pinching him instead of smacking. ]

[totalcatastrophe]

Ow.

[ That pinch hurt, and Luci nurses his tail when it retreats into his hands. ]

Okay, fine, you aren't just skin and bones. [ Now he's distracted though, leaning forward to look with his tail still in his hands. Forget the cooking.

A pause. ]

Ever consider showing more leg?

[partymagician]

[ Fai glances back at him. ]

Why?

[ Of all things, Fai didn’t expect that question. ]

Why not? If you got the gams for it, do it.

[ His tail is still recovering, or he'd smack a calf. ]

I suppose there’s no reason not to… but it’s not like I have a real reason to parade around in anything that would show them off either.

[totalcatastrophe]

Does anyone need a reason to show off? What ever happened to respecting to golden ratio of stocking, skin, and shorts, huh?

[ All he needed was the knowledge Hien dumped on him, who's sharing a room, and seeing Fai's clothed leggies up close to pull this. Sorry about him. ]

Buuut, if you'd rather be boring... [ Shrug. ]

Hmmm… stockings and shorts are pretty cute.

[ But it’d feel pretty inappropriate to walk around like that. ]

See, you know what I'm talkin' about.

[ Luci says it more like a comrade in stocking wearing, despite not wearing anything ever. ]

You could--nah, I think it's too crazy, you'd never do it. But stick to stockings, shorts, and cooking. It's cute.

[ Actually...

Yeah, it sounds surprisingly flat yet genuine. But he moves on. ]

Is it ready yet?

[partymagician]

[ Hmmm... should Fai combine all three and cook in stockings and shorts? Anyway. ]

Just about!

[ In fact, Fai will get out a plate. ]

And you never know. I can do some pretty crazy things.

[ But he's not going to push the subject since Luci has already moved on. So, when he deems it ready, Fai slides all of the food onto the plate from the pan after he turns off the stove. ]
