[ The pat does help! Chongyun tosses Sabo a quick smile and a nod. ]
We could always split up into two groups and do both options. [ Doubtfully - and it looks like Xingqiu has already decided on the elevators anyway. Chongyun was the one who offered the suggestion, but he doesn't like the idea of them splitting up either. ]
Let's stick with the lift for now, and if anything happens - [ and they gotta knock out some dangerous people - ] - we can always try the stairs later, as a back-up option.
[ Meanwhile, Xingqiu is waiting serenely in the elevator for the others to come on along or decide on anything else. He's kind of a go with the flow when there isn't exactly a concrete plan here.
They have more or less preplanned the keycard and that is the extent of it as far as he's concerned. ]
but sabo is going to make a note of what's being said even if he doesn't comment on it. there is a bit of a Concern from him about the "something weird" happening to "Barty", but he's still saying nothing. we just vibing until the elevator arrives. ]
As long as we're on the same page. [ which is most important to him. ] Hopefully we won't have to worry about anything, though.
[Because he's the worst of them when it comes to acting natural.
(Or is there something else? Who knows. It's a mystery.)
They'll be able to get to Floor 6 without any issues, though, because at least one of them knows how to use a keycard. I hope. Ace got lucky in one way!!
Floor 6 isn't all too grand at first blush - the elevator opens up on a hallway, and they have options to go left or right. On the wall across from them is a plaque, which reads:
←Storage →Chips
Both the words "Storage" and "Chips" seem to be recent additions, as the letters look much newer, as if the floor has recently been repurposed.]
That brand shiny new writing sure isn't suspicious at all, but considering they have a choice to make now... well. From the few steps Cater takes towards the 'Chips' side of the hall, it's obvious what way he's leaning towards, though he won't be hard to convince otherwise if everyone else goes to storage.]
It's totally probably too much to hope they have food-chips down there, but...
I find it strange that they would store woodchips so high up. [ And also why?? He'll never understand the minds working at Camellia. ]
As for myself, I believe we may find items of great interest in the storage area, so I'll head that way. You're all welcome to join me, but I'll be fine going alone, too.
[ His track record isn't great, but he's determined. ]
[ everything about many things are sus but we're here and we're doing this, and unfortunately for cater, sabo isn't going to be as inclined to head towards the "chips" sign and instead automatically drifts towards the "storage" side along with chongyun. he doesn't have the same reasoning as chongyun and cater's ill placed hopes, but he just likes to go through people's things.
i guess. ]
I doubt it, but it's probably be worthwhile to check it out anyway. If we want to split up then I'll follow Chongyun down to this "Storage".
[ sabo's track record is pretty swell when it comes to sleuthing so have no fear, chongyun?? ]
[ technology? hm. it'd probably be for the best if he went to storage, too, but this is a pretty unfair split leaving cater alone by himself. especially if something were to happen. and if they have a pair split, maybe the other half can feel if something goes haywire in the other side.
so, in that case, he'll walk over toward the "chips" direction and clasp a hand on cater's shoulder. ]
Looks like it's you and me.
[ unless he doesn't feel like splitting up anymore. ]
Anyways, the gang is splitting up. The "Chips" room is quite small and cramped - there are a few large monitors on the wall, all of which are currently on, but the majority of the room is taken up by desks and computers. There's a few filing cabinets and a few plastic bins in the room, too. At... At least Cater knows what a computer is....
The storage room, on the other hand, is large (it takes up about... 90% of the floor) and very, very dark. There does seem to be a faint glow coming from somewhere in the back of the room, but it's going to be hard to navigate. There's probably a light switch around them somewhere.]
[ at least there's some non-tech stuff he can start to go through while cater works looks over the computers. so, he'll start with checking all the plastic bins. ]
[The big monitor seems to have a list of names, with + and - next to each of them. Some of the names seem quite familiar, as all of the students are on there.
The computers at the desk are quite different, though they're all logged in. One of them seems to have some sort of checklist, as well as some notes if Cater would like a closer look at them.
The first plastic bin Ace opens has... bags in it. Bags of potato chips. The second one has other, not potato chips, while the rest of the bins seem to be computer chips and other electrical odds and ends.]
[So uh. What's the rundown of the + and -s? Is there a pattern? How bad does it look...?
But anyway, yeah, he's gonna take a peek at that checklist and those notes, since we're here to be nosy and someone forgot to lock their workstation before leaving.]
[ don't mind as he grabs a random bag of not!potato chips for himself and dangles a bag of regular chips in cater's direction as he looks at the electrical things. is there anything that stands out? ]
[Shizuku, Riku, Miach, Madara, Eiichi, Mae, Herlock, and Shinei are marked with -s, while everyone else has +s attached to them. What that means is quite obvious, as the first note reads:
Took several attempts, but chip modification seems to have been successful. Emotions should occur as usual, while unpredictable factors have been suppressed.
Several of the chips seem to be damaged, and quite obviously. Some of them even seem to be a bit melted and scorched in places.]
[Reaching for the bag of chips as he reads the monitor and-- WELL THAT'S NOT CONCERNING AT ALL. Don't mind him as he, you know, actually forgets to grab the bag of chips and lets it fall to the ground with a crinkle.]
Ah. That's...
[Time to look into what's on the computers a little more seriously! Time to open more notes, look at that checklist, see if there are any programs, the works.]
Careful. [ Chongyun tries to feel for a light switch by the entrance. Kind of just smacking the wall until he hits something. It's usually by the door, right? Unless Camellia is ultra sadistic and makes their workers fumble in the dark for a couple of meters before blessing them with light. WHICH WOULD NOT SURPRISE HIM. ]
It takes a few smacks, but the switch is within arm's length of the door.
With the lights on it seems like... the storage room is quite full. There are shelves covered in boxes and other various things, but most of what's available isn't relevant to the plot. This just seems to be where Camellia keeps everything, so if they want to find anything important, they should head deeper.
The overhead lights do seem to cover up whatever that glow is, at least, so it's gotta be less spooky now.]
[ thank you chongyun for having given us light for this but frowns at mysterious light being covered up. alas.
and okay, even though there's nothing plot relevant in the stuff, what are in some of the boxes? is any of it visible from the outside or labeled in a way where they can tell? he's going to start with the nearest shelves to him/them. i am so sorry about the thieving that sabo is constantly doing whenever he goes places. ]
Nice job finding the light so quickly.
[ regardless what is available, he will definitely move in deeper into the warehouse but methodically. ]
[ Xingqiu will advance forward as well, though not going to like pilfer at any things. He will keep his eyes out for anything interesting and rise his tablet he brought to help add to the lighting. ]
[ Hmm. Since this room seems to be newer, the stuff they're looking for should be the most recent or the most disturbed perhaps. He'll head deeper into the room to look for anything that's recently disturbed as he heads toward the glow with something like trepidation. It's not because he doesn't want to deal with it in case it's anything related to some sort of technological glow - but uh. Is it wrong to hope that rather than something technological, it's some nefarious spirit or energy glowing? Mayhaps a dubious portal leading straight to that Camellia person he doesn't like?
[Seems to be a bit of everything, from mundane things like toasters and other kitchen appliances to more complex machinery and pieces. Some of them look much more dated, and there are labels on the shelves marking them with their prototype numbers and dates.
There are also things that look, perhaps, a bit too uncomfortable close to bodies and metal skeletons. That's fine.
The further they get into the room, the more hectic and unorganized things seem. Shelves are closer together, angled awkwardly. Someone had moved them from their original position, making room for something else. That something else seems to be... large boxes, taking up the entire back half of the storage rooms. All of them have stands next to them that seem to be holding tablets, though some are oriented vertically and some are horizontal. There are thirty in total, and each seems about as large as a person.
A few of the tablets are currently on - this seems to be the source of the glow. Obnoxiously bright screens.]
