06.50 - week six, saturday
W6 SATURDAY
It’s Saturday…and things seem a little more standard, this time, when Lorelei makes a quick announcement on the tablets again at 8am:
”Good morning, students. It’s time for your sixth…and final official lesson. Yes. What this means is that this is the final detected orb located here, and while this does not indicate the end of the course just yet, it is the final day for your evaluation. Florence will meet you in front of the grocery store at 8pm tonight. Please do not be late. You are also free to bring a self-defense weapon with you, and any pain-alleviating items you have received. Nothing else will be allowed.”
She seems to be her usual self this time, and this certainly seems a lot kinder than the "trust exercise" from last week.
—
With the memories of last week’s lesson still lingering, a bit of wariness would be understandable. Still, Florence did say that this week shouldn’t be nearly so bad - whether you believe them or not is up to you - and they’re there at the grocery store, ready for another lesson.
They do seem a bit distracted, as it takes them a moment before they address everyone.
“Hello. Today’s lesson will be focused purely on cooperation. It is another journey into an orb, so things may be unpredictable, but nothing so severe…”
They trail off, before nodding at nothing.
“There is a storm. You must prepare to survive it, and prepare for any other eventualities. As I said, it may be unpredictable. I will be around to help in any way I possibly can.”
With that, it’s off into another orb - and the lush island on the other side. Surely this won’t be too hard, right?

OOC NOTE
Welcome to Week 6 Saturday's event. As Lorelei stated above, this is the final orb lesson for the game. Characters will have to work together to survive on a deserted island through an oncoming storm. How this will work OOCly is simple:
There will be three phases. Planning, gathering, and constructing. Planning will be short and mostly designed to have everyone gather their bearings and figure out who's doing what. Gathering will be collecting materials to help with their survival. Constructing will involve fortifying your "home base" so to speak.
Gathering and Constructing will run for 2 hours each. At the 1 hour mark for both phases, however, random events will happen that may throw characters off-kilter. There may be other things in between depending on character actions, but you can expect them at the hour mark at the very least. Planning will only last for 30 minutes, unless an extension is needed.
These instructions are not IC. This is for OOC organizational purposes.
We also have a section for people to submit threads so we can track progress and determine the outcome of the event. Qualifying threads must have at least 5 comments from you; more details can be found on the top level below.
The storm will happen at 5pm EST.

PENDING THAT THE WOOD SITUATION IS FINE...and the fortification. ]

Or bring the fallen trees back to camp, that works too.]
no subject
but for now!!! what did the mudslide reveal if anything!! there's probably a lot of squishy muddy ground to walk on but whatever. he'll be careful. maybe even use some of the fallen trees as a way to make it across any sketchier parts of the mudslide. ]
no subject
But no, there isn't anything out of place after the mudslide - no hidden areas unlocked, no treasures exposed. There's just upped difficulty when it comes to traversing now!]
no subject
OH WELL. but the mudslide did a fair amount of work for them so time to haul back the smaller broken chunks back to the camp then. sabo also said he was good for the handiwork so he better get good on that. ]

Heading in?
no subject
I'm thinking about it. I would want to make sure that everything is fine first.
no subject
Let me know if you do and I'll come with. Safety in numbers and all that, although that didn't exactly do us much good in that landslide.
no subject
It certainly didn't but we all managed to get lucky.
[ hmm. ]
Are you good with construction, Marcus? Would be helpful to have extra hands to hold up the planks while they're nailed into place.
no subject
Yeah, I've helped build some stuff before. Nothing as fancy as an actual hut, but same idea. If you need an extra pair of hands or arms for that, I'm game. It's not like there's much else I can do around here right now...
no subject
Unless you wanted to get involved with the cooking.
[ THEY HAVE. SO MUCH CRAB. ]
But thanks. Would you want to do the hammering or measure out and sawing the wood into planks so that they can be used?
no subject
Shaking that hand right back because you get him, man.]
I might go see if they need a hand after this. Save them from themselves.
[DON'T RUIN ALL THAT CRAB, GUYS... THAT'S A CRIME...]
I can measure and saw if someone else wants to put it together, since this part takes a little more muscle.
[Might as well use what he's got!]
no subject
Alright then. I can do the measuring and make notches of where the should be cut with my ax. [ because even though shin has the permanent marker, sabo has no idea of its existence. ] After that it should be pretty straight forward in terms of what hammering everything into place.
no subject
[Because what even was the timing of that mudslide, that was just someone up there having it out for them.]
no subject
Don't worry about that; I've already got us covered, remember?
[ what else could go wrong after all, right?? surely they'll be okay for the storm.... ]
no subject
no, j/k. he'll totally tag along, though. because exploration is fun. and they kinda said they'd do this together anyway. ]
no subject
Looks like there's nothing here. Interested in fixing the place up a bit?
