06.50 - week six, saturday
W6 SATURDAY
It’s Saturday…and things seem a little more standard, this time, when Lorelei makes a quick announcement on the tablets again at 8am:
”Good morning, students. It’s time for your sixth…and final official lesson. Yes. What this means is that this is the final detected orb located here, and while this does not indicate the end of the course just yet, it is the final day for your evaluation. Florence will meet you in front of the grocery store at 8pm tonight. Please do not be late. You are also free to bring a self-defense weapon with you, and any pain-alleviating items you have received. Nothing else will be allowed.”
She seems to be her usual self this time, and this certainly seems a lot kinder than the "trust exercise" from last week.
—
With the memories of last week’s lesson still lingering, a bit of wariness would be understandable. Still, Florence did say that this week shouldn’t be nearly so bad - whether you believe them or not is up to you - and they’re there at the grocery store, ready for another lesson.
They do seem a bit distracted, as it takes them a moment before they address everyone.
“Hello. Today’s lesson will be focused purely on cooperation. It is another journey into an orb, so things may be unpredictable, but nothing so severe…”
They trail off, before nodding at nothing.
“There is a storm. You must prepare to survive it, and prepare for any other eventualities. As I said, it may be unpredictable. I will be around to help in any way I possibly can.”
With that, it’s off into another orb - and the lush island on the other side. Surely this won’t be too hard, right?

OOC NOTE
Welcome to Week 6 Saturday's event. As Lorelei stated above, this is the final orb lesson for the game. Characters will have to work together to survive on a deserted island through an oncoming storm. How this will work OOCly is simple:
There will be three phases. Planning, gathering, and constructing. Planning will be short and mostly designed to have everyone gather their bearings and figure out who's doing what. Gathering will be collecting materials to help with their survival. Constructing will involve fortifying your "home base" so to speak.
Gathering and Constructing will run for 2 hours each. At the 1 hour mark for both phases, however, random events will happen that may throw characters off-kilter. There may be other things in between depending on character actions, but you can expect them at the hour mark at the very least. Planning will only last for 30 minutes, unless an extension is needed.
These instructions are not IC. This is for OOC organizational purposes.
We also have a section for people to submit threads so we can track progress and determine the outcome of the event. Qualifying threads must have at least 5 comments from you; more details can be found on the top level below.
The storm will happen at 5pm EST.

...Better than getting stuck on crab duty...]

[he already dug some small pits for holding saltwater this is fine]
... I miss magic...
no subject
Oh... same. Defs same. So much could get done with, like, 20 of me, yanno?
[To say nothing of the other uses their magic would have.......]
no subject
Even if you could... we'd want to be careful. Overdoing it would result in a Bad End.
[... That's all just hypothetical, of course.]
no subject
[But whether or not that's overdoing it... well. No one else has ever seemed to care about that angle, whoops.]
Ah, right... I don't think either of us could take out someone in overblot alone...
[To say nothing of the aftercare magics...]

Ah, you all made it back alright. Are you okay, Cay-san?
no subject
Eh, there was a mudslide Cay just barely escaped, but... otherwise he's fine...!
no subject
[ He would like a nice long shower after this, thanks. ]
I wish this were more like a camping trip.
no subject
[RIP Riku... may you find that shower later...]
If it was more like a camping trip, Cay could totally see them sending bears instead of crabs, though, yanno? And then being like, hey, idiots, why didn't you keep the bear traps from last week?
no subject
Hey. Brought you a present!
no subject
[Gonna keep those stacked neatly until The Pit(tm) is a decent size, at least. He can't do much, but he can try to make this, you know, kind of decent?]
no subject
There's gonna be more where that came from. How much do you need?
no subject
Eh, well, I don't actually know how to make a good fire pit, so... maybe someone else knows how much we need!!

How are you enjoying the beach?
no subject
Eh... Cay totes hasn't been on the beach very long yet... but so far it's better than the forest...?

[He was a bit distracted by the crab.]
Did you get your clothes dirty?

Okay no we're not doing that!! But when they get close to finishing up the pit, he will look over and ask.]
You've made campfires before?
[For whatever it's worth, he doesn't seem annoyed or angry or anything; it's delivered as a simple question for confirmation and nothing more.]

Thank you for preparing this. I imagine we'd be a great deal more uncomfortable were it not for this.
no subject
Eheh... Well, it's not like he'd be useful many other places, so...!
[Gotta be helpful where he can, right? Even if he's not 100% sure on how to light the thing without magic, he can definitely set it up.]

[ He gives him an encouraging smile. ]
If you need any assistance, I'd be glad to offer mine.
