04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

Not... Not sure. I don't think - hng - water will help.

[ A healer with a Vision can take care of it, but here... He can already tell his powers are gone again. He doesn't know who can help them here, and he's worried Kawase might die before they can get help. ]

Maybe... Lorelei?

[ He did do work for her. She could save his life to pay him back maybe...! ]

[So magical power-adjacent stuff. Definitely not something Madara can help with.

He doesn't like the Lorelei idea, but nobody here has powers. Maybe she knows something. Anything. And he has his motorcycle here, so he can get back fast.

He raises his voice to the surrounding people:]

Can someone keep him stable? I'm gonna go try to get help.

[He's ripping the rest of his shirt off to hand it to whoever needs it for bandages, too.]

Hm? What's-

[ What in the name of the Archons happened?! ]

Chongyun?

[ Despite the fact that is not a shout it very well is damn near such a thing because aaaa ]

[ OKAY WELL he only allowed the moment for a very short while before rushing to come over and UH...try to help keep him stable. ]

How did this happen?

[ He will like borrow some of those ripped pieces of shirt to help wrap what he can...which is probably like limited due to the scope of Chongyun's injuries. He unfortunately can't do anything about the corrosion RIP and that is probably something that shouldn't be wrapped up.

He's also wincing a bit because this kind of like hurts like a bitch even if he can definitely move around. The joys of pain feedback. ]

Xingqiu...

[ He grabs Xingqiu's sleeve clumsily, desperately.

He's in a lot of pain, but he's also frantic (they need to help Kawase ASAP, never mind him -) and anxious (he needs to thank Madara, he can't forget to - ) and overwhelmingly worried (Xingqiu - Oh god, how badly hurt is Xingqiu - ). If he wasn't already on the ground, all of this - this EVERYTHING would probably knock him out for a week. So much happened in so short a time. ] So sorry - my fault, all of it. I thought... we were safe during the day. But this - this just appeared and - Slumbering Court -

... He saved my life. Can't let him die.

[It doesn't take terribly long to get to the campus from the park - there's no traffic in an empty city - and as soon as Lorelei hears what happens she's reaching out to Florence, telling them to accompany Madara back to the park.

They'll know what to do.

Chongyun is who they reach first, though they glance over to the cluster that is Kawase-Tamamori-Rideaux-Marcus, before they kneel down. There's a pause, but they remain impassive this whole time.]

...This is more severe than I was anticipating.

[...]

With the fog gone from there we can...

[They cut themself off, before pushing back to their feet.]

We should not waste more time. If anyone wishes to assist, you can help by carrying them. There is a place... with more supplies than we have at the university.

... You can save him? Keep them... keep them all safe -

[ Whatever their answer, Chongyun sags as his body gives up at last and he slips into a deep, tired darkness. His breathing settles somewhat, though still hitching occasionally from discomfort and pain. ]

[ Xingqiu is more than glad for Chongyun to have fallen unconscious, and he holds back whatever residual anger about the fact he has been hurt for a moment longer. Just so he can get what help he needs ]

...you did well. I'm sure of it. He'll be safe.

You will too.

[ And yet it feels like the words are empty, with the full force of the echoing pain Chongyun feels. His hands briefly slide fingers gently through the other boy's hair before he moves slightly to the side. He is a martial artist yes but with the pain feedback and his smaller frame he doesn't think he'd be able to carry him well. ]

He doesn't think he can express proper gratitude right now with the mixture of painful and turbulent emotions swirling within him, but. Later. ]

We can take them to the Camellia Facility. There is a medical wing we can use. I... do not know that I still have access to the wing, but I believe either myself or someone else will be able to break us in.

If it's just a matter of smashing, I can probably help with that much too.

But he'll be gentle as instructed! He's got plenty of experience in that department as well.]

[ sup, he's been here for most of the time.

He kind of wants to question whether that's a good idea, but if it's a better setup than what they have available, then they can figure it out later. They don't really have a lot of time. ]

We'll figure it out when we get there. We should go.

Smashing will probably be more than enough, depending on how you go about the smashing.

[Was Florence implying they could just smash a door down...

But they nod at Julius, because. Yeah. He's right.

They lead them to a back entrance of the facility, but when they raise their hand to the keycard reader there's just an angry beep. Access denied, it seems.]

...The doors they use for these entrances have a weak spot at the lock. If hit with enough downwards force, it will push the electronic lock out of alignment, which will force the door to open.

[and this is made up tech so that's definitely how it works.]

You may have more luck than I would, Mr. Grimm.

Don't mind if I do. Stand back, will ya?

[He leans down to take a better look at the lock first, noting its shape and size before trying to aim a kick at it. That accomplished, he lifts his foot up and then brings the heel of his boot down hard on the lock in a swift strike that will hopefully be enough to cause it to disengage.

If not, well, he can just try again!]

[They stand back, glancing to check on Kawase and Chongyun for a moment before turning their attention back to Marcus.

Just in time to watch him absolutely shatter the lock with his kick.]

[Free from the lock, and with the momentum from the kick carrying over, the door flies open.]

Nicely done, Mr. Grimm. Now, please…

[Onwards! They can’t stand around admiring his muscles.

They will lead the party into the facility, gesturing.]

Please place them on a bed and I will take them to the operating rooms. I can handle things from here, though I will not refuse further assistance.

[And with the door to this part of Camellia open… anyone who doesn’t join Florence will be free to explore.]

[ Julius doesn't trust any of this for a second, so once they get Kawase and Chongyun situated and Rideaux goes with Florence, he's absolutely gonna poke around the new part of the facility. What's the layout looking like. What's going on here. ]

There are two doors leading into what can be presumed to be the lobby, and right behind them is a circular desk with computers and a few storage cabinets. Behind the computer bay the wing splits into two hallways. One of the hallways, the one Florence took Rideaux, Kawase, and Chongyun, has two operating theaters - there's the room for the actual surgery, and a room for observation. Very medicine from over a century ago vibes, though they're using one-way glass here. There is also a door at the end of the hallway

The other hallway has a room for post-op recovery, a locker room, an examination room, and a storage closet. All of the doors are labeled!]

[ He'll take a cursory lap around, checking the area, before moving to one of the labelled doors. While they all sound like good places to poke through, the locker room is probably one of the better places to start in case IDs or passwords are needed, so long as he's not blocked from getting in.

(If anyone else wants to take some of the other areas, feel free!) ]

[He is not blocked from getting into the locker room! There are two sections mirroring each other, each of which have showers, lockers (obviously), and benches. A cabinet full of surgical PPE sits at the junction of the two halves, and there's are some small reminders plastered around because you can never be too safe.

Poking around, he'll be able to find an ID card on one of the benches. It seems to belong to a nurse.]

[ Yoink! The PPE is a good find and worth noting, but he'll start thumbing through the lockers to find anything else of note that might've been left behind. ]

[There's not a whole lot of significance left behind! There's some clothes left behind and someone left behind a chocolate bar he's free to take, but the locker room is clear. Time to move on.]

[ Indeed! He'll move over then to the examination room! ]
