04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

[He leans down to take a better look at the lock first, noting its shape and size before trying to aim a kick at it. That accomplished, he lifts his foot up and then brings the heel of his boot down hard on the lock in a swift strike that will hopefully be enough to cause it to disengage.

If not, well, he can just try again!]

[They stand back, glancing to check on Kawase and Chongyun for a moment before turning their attention back to Marcus.

Just in time to watch him absolutely shatter the lock with his kick.]

[Free from the lock, and with the momentum from the kick carrying over, the door flies open.]

Nicely done, Mr. Grimm. Now, please…

[Onwards! They can’t stand around admiring his muscles.

They will lead the party into the facility, gesturing.]

Please place them on a bed and I will take them to the operating rooms. I can handle things from here, though I will not refuse further assistance.

[ Julius doesn't trust any of this for a second, so once they get Kawase and Chongyun situated and Rideaux goes with Florence, he's absolutely gonna poke around the new part of the facility. What's the layout looking like. What's going on here. ]

There are two doors leading into what can be presumed to be the lobby, and right behind them is a circular desk with computers and a few storage cabinets. Behind the computer bay the wing splits into two hallways. One of the hallways, the one Florence took Rideaux, Kawase, and Chongyun, has two operating theaters - there's the room for the actual surgery, and a room for observation. Very medicine from over a century ago vibes, though they're using one-way glass here. There is also a door at the end of the hallway

The other hallway has a room for post-op recovery, a locker room, an examination room, and a storage closet. All of the doors are labeled!]

[ He'll take a cursory lap around, checking the area, before moving to one of the labelled doors. While they all sound like good places to poke through, the locker room is probably one of the better places to start in case IDs or passwords are needed, so long as he's not blocked from getting in.

(If anyone else wants to take some of the other areas, feel free!) ]

[He is not blocked from getting into the locker room! There are two sections mirroring each other, each of which have showers, lockers (obviously), and benches. A cabinet full of surgical PPE sits at the junction of the two halves, and there's are some small reminders plastered around because you can never be too safe.

Poking around, he'll be able to find an ID card on one of the benches. It seems to belong to a nurse.]

[ Yoink! The PPE is a good find and worth noting, but he'll start thumbing through the lockers to find anything else of note that might've been left behind. ]

[There's not a whole lot of significance left behind! There's some clothes left behind and someone left behind a chocolate bar he's free to take, but the locker room is clear. Time to move on.]

[ Indeed! He'll move over then to the examination room! ]

[The examination room isn’t terribly remarkable - there’s an examination table of course, some chairs, a box of gloves, a sharps disposal bin, equipment for taking vitals and doing other routine checks like reflexes. Someone’s left their stethoscope on the seat of one of the chairs, too. There’s a computer monitor in the room as well, with a wireless keyboard resting on top of a cabinet.

There’s nothing remarkable in the cabinet - more gloves in various sizes, swabs, gauze, some equipment for blood draws and syringes. It’s all neat and orderly, ready for the next patient.]

[ Oh, bingo. He'll check the cabinets, just to take stock and also see if anything is lingering around in the back, but then he'll go to the computer once he doesn't find anything in there. What's going on here? ]

[There's a sad, lonely IV bag of saline solution in the back, but things are generally pretty pretty tidy in there!

The computer requires a password to get online - but Julius can just use the ID card. QR codes and all that. Science.

He now has access to patient records! There aren't many other programs accessible on this computer, but if he wants to flip through some sensitive information now's the time, and considering he can see a familiar name listed in the records...]

But you better believe that he's going through the sensitive records. Does Elympios have some kind of HIPAA? It's probably fine. ]

[It's fiiiiine.

Let's start with the most interesting record first - because Julius will be able to find information on everyone's favorite professor, Lorelei.

She came in for a routine visit, as far as he can see. Her vitals were normal, she wasn't reporting any pain or symptoms of an illness, but there is a note on her profile that says "chip recipient". What kind of chip? It's not specified, but there might some more information elsewhere... Or perhaps someone found those chips in another investigation... :worry:

Anyways, looking back further will show Lorelei had this chip implanted quite a while ago - months before the start of the course - and her last visit was to check up on whatever this chip was implanted for. According to the notes on the file, things seem to be inconclusive, further monitoring may be necessary.

There are other people marked as recipients, but any follow up on them seems to lead to a dead end.

That seems to be about all he can find in the examination room! Would he like to look at anything else?]

[ Oh, this isn't worrying in the slightest. Lorelei just keeps having shit put in/on her, huh...

Once he finds the end of any useful information, he'll log back out of the portal and back out. Since he's already hit this up, he may as well head to the post-op recovery before heading back into the lobby. ]

[Post-op recovery is pretty empty - at least with Kawase and Chongyun still in the operating theaters - and there's not terribly much to report. There's a stash of liquid medicines if he wants to ease pain or knock someone out, and another computer that will pull up the same records as the one in the examination room.

There is something that seems like a toolbox in there, though.]

Let's crack open the toolbox, though! What do we have? ]

But for an actual answer, they all seem to be made for delicate work, not any sort of brute force fixing up. There are screwdrivers, pliers, a wireless soldering iron, wires and other components for fixing electronics... So you'll be prepared for repairs with all of this!

Also, everything is in polypropylene bags, looking like they've gone through an autoclave at some point. So, you know. Sterilized and ready to go!

This seems to be the only thing worth noting, though, with how out of place it would be in most recovery rooms.]

But this actually pretty useful to have, so he'll actually probably be taking that with him. ]

Maybe fixing the monitors...?

[ He thinks about it for a second, and looks around to see if there's anything else going on. If not, he'll head towards the lobby and check out the computers. He's taking the ID with, too. ]

[Julius is +1 toolbox!

There's nothing else readily apparent, so to the lobby it is. He can use the ID to access these computers, and they do seem to have a few more programs on them. There's the patient records, of course, but there's also some sort of internal correspondence program and something labelled "inventory".

What does he want to look at first?]

[There's a lot of irrelevant e-mails back and forth within the medical division, but an e-mail that will probably catch Julius eyes seems to be about... suppressor chips.

(Weird!)

The e-mail is a bit brief, explaining that some patients were reacting well to the chips, some were having side-effects that called for removal of the chips, and some people were entirely unchanged by the chips. Results, as they say, were inconclusive. There's not much to glean about what the chips are meant to suppress in the e-mails themselves, but it seems Lorelei isn't the only thing that's been microchipped in this place.

There are also a few chains mentioning "augments", and some outgoing e-mails to other departments within Camellia, but the chips seem to be of utmost importance.]

[ Hm. Since he can go back to the patient records here, is there any information listed in them that might be helpful as to what the chips/augments are supposed to be for? Or is it kind of vaguely just noted like how the chip was in Lorelei's file? ]

[It's all pretty vague! Chip implants do seem to be more prevalent than augments, so they're separate things. There's probably more information about them somewhere, but it doesn't seem like it's information accessible on this machine.

Though something to note is that everyone with augments or chips are Camellia employees.]

N-Nyahahaha... There's not much we can do, is there...

[Well, what he really means is there's not much he can do, because what skills does this chucklefuck even have -- but there's something a little wild in Tamamori's laugh so he's probably kind of emotionally and mentally a little left of sideways at the moment.

On the bright side, having a giant frog(????) crying a river of tears to transport(???????) one of the patients to the facility has gone weirdly smoothly; Frog Man continues blubbering in the background (quietly, Tamamori yelled at him even absent-mindedly) as they peel Tamamori and Kawase off him in a heap. But:]

D-Don't despair! Tamamori-san! I'm here, and if there's anything I can do, I'm sure I've read about it! [Tamamori stares up at the huge wet frog eyes in consternation] ... Don't be ridiculous, Frog Man, we aren't the doctors.

[... but he seems a little calmer.]
