WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

Well.

[ Hien gives Fai a small peck on the nose. ]

Now you do.

[ He attempts to free himself from Fai's hold on his shirt so that he can resume unpacking. ]

[ Oh.

It's such a small, affectionate gesture that it makes Fai's heart beat wildly in his chest as he lets go of Hien's shirt. All he can do for a moment is stand there and stare at Hien. ]

...Find anything else interesting?

Hm...

[ He opens another box. It has a lot more smaller items inside of it. ]

I see a microphone--oh, this must be Gentaro's.

[ Even though he calls him Ichiro anwyay. ]

And a little charm thing. Cute shamrock. And. Hm.

[ He tries on the fake red glasses and turns to Fai. ]

How do I look?

[ A microphone... does Gentaro sing? Fai watches curiously as he pulls out the shamrock charm and then the glasses. ]

Absolutely charming.

[ He laughs. ]

An absolutely charming nerd, right?

[ ...

He takes them off and walks over to Fai to put the glasses on him. ]

They suit you better.

Really? Do you like how they look?

[ He even does a little pose for Hien. ]

Yeah. You're really cute with them.

[ Silly Fai. ]

[ Fai rolls his eyes, taking the glasses off and putting them to the side. ]

Hien, please... I haven't been cute since I was a kid.

Well, you're cute now. Sorry. Nothing you can do about it.

[ Anyway. ]

Oh, I got the weird screwdriver and a mayo spray. After the mayo I'd all used up, I'm gonna use it as a water spray bottle.

I hope you don't plan on spraying me with that bottle.

[ Is that a thinly veiled threat? Maybe. He's got to refute those cute claims somehow. ]

Oh, I will.

[ hien: that was a threat? ]

I can guarantee it too.

Then I'll find a hose and spray you back when you least expect it.

Good luck finding a hose.

[ He will not allow himself to be sprayed!! ]

Anyway, that's all I got out of my boxes. Surprisingly, no grapes this time. What about you?

Just a few other random things here and there, but that's all.

[ The heart patch that hits a little too close to home and that text to speech device again... ]

Maybe all my grapes went to you.

[ He actually doesn't think so, but it's fun to think about. ]

I'd say you keep getting weirder things than I do. And I had a rock.

I'm the fun, eccentric one out of the two of us. It makes sense that they would give me cooler things.

[ Sure, Hien said "weirder", but Fai is going to add his own little spin on it. ]

Yeah, you're one of the most fun people here.

[ Does Fai enjoy walking into that trap. ]

[ He sure does! ]

Oh? Do tell, Hien.

[ Go on. ]

I like being with you. I like hanging out with you. You may not react to my teasing attempts, but you're still lively to be enjoyable company.

[ Said with a straight face and completely sincerely. ]

[ If Fai didn't know any better, he'd think Hien was confessing.

He looks mildly embarrassed, glancing to the side instead of looking at Hien properly. ]

It's a real shame I don't react, isn't it?

[ But it would be unfair of Fai to dish it out if he can't take it. ]

[ He shrugs. ]

You make up for it in other areas. Like being interesting and fun to talk to. You're also very kind to others, so I don't see what's not to like.

You're going to give me a big ego if you keep saying stuff like that.

[ God. He feels mildly embarrassed. ]

I don't have to worry, because you're already holding yourself back from having one.

[ Yeah. ]

I'm really not the kind of guy who could ever have a big ego, you're right.

Yeah, so don't worry. Besides, I'll keep you on track if you ever can't. And I can promise you that.

[ What's that supposed to mean?? Yes.

Anyway, Hien goes to flatten the boxes and organize the items in their room. Time for cleanup. ]
