3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ Fai laughs softly. ]

I'll do my best to bring that side of his out.

[ The toast is done, so Fai goes to set it on a plate before brewing some more coffee. ]

Would you like some coffee too? I'll also make it just the way Hien likes for you.

[ It seems like Idia really looks up to Hien, so he might as well. ]

[On one hand, asking more from someone who was already pretty much making his partner breakfast and promising to show him his idol's tsundere side...]

... um. Y- Yes, please.

[It didn't hurt to try it!]

[ Fai doesn't mind at all as he smiles and gets out two mugs, along with the hazelnut syrup.

The eggs are done too, so he turns off the stove and gets them onto the plate. The coffee finishes just as he gets that all together, so Fai pours Idia a mug first. ]

He likes his coffee mostly plain, except for some of this syrup.

[ Fai pours in what he's figured out is the perfect amount of hazelnut syrup. He mixes it with a spoon before handing the mug over to Idia. ]

[Idia takes it, holding both the handle and the other side of the mug gingerly with his fingertips.]

[he take a little sip and,]

H-Hot... [Buddy, you could have just waited a bit. Maybe stirred it more. Bud.]

[ Fai bites back a laugh. How cute... ]

Be careful, there. I should have warned you that it's still pretty hot. Try blowing on it a bit before taking another sip.

[His lips take on a slightly purple tinge where they touched the too-hot liquid. Sorry, Cater, sorry.]

... R- Right...

[holding it a little higher so he can blow on it]

[... then a little sip.]

So... how is it?

[ Now that it isn't burning his tongue?

Fai gets the other cup of coffee ready. ]

[He bites at his lower lip, thinking of how to put. He's also having the relevation of associating hazelnut with nutella for most of his life without actually acknolwedging it's hazelnut. You mean there's nut in this nutella?]

... it's still a bit bitter...

[he shifts]

... but, um, I like the creamer.

It's a nice flavor, isn't it?

[ He's used it in his own coffee a few times, in fact. ]

I think Hien likes that it's kind of bitter... Honestly, I could never drink coffee that wasn't sweet.

Right? [he agrees to the sweetness comment!]

... but I guess people who like bitter things... they get a kind of... mystique to them...

Dark and mysterious, right? Do you think that part of Hien's appeal?

[............. well, when you put it that way, it's a bit embarrassing.]

... w- well, he is... dark and mysterious...

In a way, he is.

[ Hmmmmm. ]

He seems more sleepy to me than anything else.

... is it because of the coffee?

[ He laughs. ]

Partially. He sleeps in so late that I agreed to bring him coffee every morning, since I'm already over here. After all, he wants to get in as much sleep as he can.

As much sleep as he can...

[Idia tilts his head, considering... maybe some sort of "I need to save my power for the absolute right moment!"]

[(or maybe he's just sleepy)]

That's right. He's really not a morning person.

[ At all.

Fai even had to drag him to the first lesson... ]

I see... I never noticed, since I'm usually recharging at those hours too...

[Or still awake from an all-nighter, although that's happened less often with just... less to work on.]

Ah, a late sleeper too! Do you stay up late, Idia?

[ Fai won’t judge him if he does. ]

If it's necessary, I won't sleep at all!

[he says that proudly, like, sometimes it's just what's needed to finish a project! ... or roll a gacha game immeditely to max the SSR before class!]

Really? That's no good! You need to be careful of your health, Idia. I wouldn't want you to get sick from lack of sleep.

[ Not on his watch! Although, it's a bit hypocritical on Fai's part, as he tends to stay up late from time to time too. Except, he does it for no reason at all. ]

[He does seem to shrink a little at the offered concern. People? Nice to me??]

D- Don't worry, I sleep plenty too... Just at different hours...

[ That makes Fai ease off a little. ]

Alright. So long as you’re getting rest, I won’t take issue with the time that you get it.

Saturday's the only day we have class, s- so I can sleep whenever I like...

[Nothing is stopping him from being a true sleep goblin.]
