3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[ Okay after last weekend, he didn't want to go into the museum at first. But curiosity gets the better of him, and what a sight to behold.

Human culture is fascinating! He's in the museum lobby poring through every pamphlet, like he wants to memorize them cover to cover, or front to back if that's more accurate. He's sitting on the desk itself reading them and pretty engrossed in whatever info or fluff they're giving.

There are also the art exhibits on the 2nd floor, and he's trying to make sense of the... modern art. Imagine something so abstract, Grimnir is wondering if it's easier to understand sideways or upside down. He's tilting his body to the point he might tip over if one were to give a little push or surprise him. ]

Huh... Maybe that part is like a face... No...

[ How does he feel about the 3rd floor? Well if someone was on that same floor enjoying something more peacefully, they might hear something like a yell that gets closer and just moments later, Grimnir running past in a panic. ]

--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

[ Lung capacity. It would seem some part of natural history has spooked him. ]

Aaaaaah?!

[ What is it with you people suddenly screaming – not that Riku's much better, but Grimnir sure gave him a spook! He looks over at the guy running past him, and Riku starts running to try and catch up to him. ]

Grimnir-san, wait! What happened?!

[ O-oh, this is.... embarrassing. But it's hard to stop as he wants to get to the 2nd floor and off of the 3rd to assuage his nerves. He can slow to a jog of sorts though, to keep up some conversation with Riku. ]

The Tyrannosaurus Rex... With nothing left but skeletal remains and a huge maw of teeth, its fearsome aura was too much!

[ A dino being underwhelming? Nah that thing was a raid boss, and one Grimnir is ill-equipped to even look at apparently (wrong element). ]

Oh, the giant fossil?

[ This is completely normal. It is a little scary since it's huge, but it doesn't scare Riku like it scares Grimnir... ]

You're scared of those things? Well, it won't hurt you, I promise!

You're right. It is only a display, after all. Not something that can come back to life through sorcery and bite us with those large jaws...

[ By this point its just them briskly walking. Why one would recreate the t-rex into its former self minus the fleshy bits eludes him.... but the museum is meant to be educational! ]

Oh, I was distracted. Did you find anything that piqued your interest?

Yeah, exactly. So you'll be okay, Grimnir-san.

[ Briskly walking, briskly walking...he's fine with this. ]

A lot of things. This world is pretty interesting in a lot of ways; it's just too bad that we were brought here the way we were. I'd be a lot more interested in learning more if things weren't so strange - what about you?

Such a broad yet magnanimous answer...! I was referring to museum exhibits but you have a good point. Wait uh, now for my answer...

[ He clears his throat. ]

Human culture is always fascinating to me, since I'm not one and until recently, I don't get too involved in their affairs. Something like this [ outstretches his arms ] is much better than reading literature! But I guess I wasnt paying attention to see the little differences between this and my world, beyond no powers thinking a giant fossil is unsettling.

[ He tilts his head a little when Grimnir goes quieter, but his excitement is nice to see. ]

Ah, I get it! You're experiencing a lot of new things, aren't you? I'm glad you're enjoying it. As much as I love reading, it's really different when you get to see things for yourself...so congratulations on your first museum visit!

[ Claps!! ]

[ Is that something to be celebrated? He isn't used to that, it's got him a little red! ]

Thank you...? I guess it is kind of special for a god to visit human destinations and learn! Humbling too, which is good.

[ This leads to seasonal events. Auguste Island remembers... ]

These are visited with friends and family, correct? Pamphlets often show what looks like people visiting in groups.

[ Hien spots Grimnir from a distance and from the way he's tilting, it looks like he could fall any minute.

...

So he quietly walks towards Grimnir from behind him, his steps emitting close to no sound at all, and in the midst of his concentration— ]

Boo.

[ And down he goes like a sad lonely domino. ]

WAUGH-!

[ Hien watches the primal domino fall over and well, now he feels a little bad about it, so he reaches out with his hand. ]

Here. You looked so focused.

[ insert image of what a kicked puppy face might look like here. Still, he takes the hand and gets up. ]

... Please don't mind how foolish I looked, I'd never seen art like this back where I'm from. It was so moving, I was off-balance!

[ He's curious of Grimnir's perspective on this. ]

So, I thought it looked like a bird at first. The blobs could make the bright and beautiful plumage. But upon looking at it again, it could be fish! A school of them. Then all the blue is actually water, not the sky.

[ The title is just what number is is in a series, it's no help here. ]

Trying to figure out what I'm seeing is what makes it moving. And the vibrancy of the piece just encourages me.

[ He supposes that's what abstract art is good at: invoking thoughts. But that makes him wonder. ]

You like animals? Or nature in general.

[ He tilts his head. ]

Animals are great and should be cherished, even they are unpredictable. As for nature... I'm a wind spirit or god. That seems the most accessible term for it!

[ That hopefully makes a sense as a yes. ]

[ Fai watches Grimnir fly right by him, a mildly amused look on his face. ]

[ Grimnir slows down at hearing Fai, either flushed from the run or being caught like this. Whoops. ]

Yes! I mean, I was caught off guard!

[ He doesn’t comment on the way Grimnir is flushed just in case it actually is embarrassment. ]

A Tyrannosaurus Rex... Its remains assembled so perfectly in a dynamic pose you'd think it was an undead beast reanimated by sorcery to cause terror!

[ That's just him, probably. ]

[ He holds back a laugh. ]

Don’t worry! If it was reanimated, you would be able to hear it running down the halls after you~

[ Is this a comfort…? ]

[ He can definitely imagine that and winces. But the big zombie dino is not real. ]

Yeah... That would be... Terrifying.

[ He sighs. ]

I guess I should go back? The other displays were cool...

Leaving me to my thoughts with such large displays might be dangerous. They don't have a lot in the descriptions.
