3.0 - week three

WEEK THREE

Last night might have been exhausting for any number of reasons - maybe it was the emotional

toll of dealing with those ghosts, or maybe you stayed up too late after watching Jim Shrok. Who knows, but Saturday is over, even if some of you haven’t quite left it behind and half spirits that are still hanging on, tethered to you and weighing you down…

But that’s not going to stop a new week from starting. There’s no breaks in an eight week course.

There’s very little fanfare to the start of your third week of the course, though it does seem like the fog has lifted even more. It’s a bit more of a trek down the abandoned streets of Estelline, but surely a mile is walkable? Or you could grab a bike or try to hotwire one of those cars in the mall parking lot… Whatever you plan to do this week is up to you. All you know is you've got some new locations to explore.

[... but, well, he's reaching over anyways. Normally he was taller than Hien, or about equal when he slouched, so he's going to take advantage of the bed-height-to-standing-height gap. It's not a fully desperate clinging hug but it's certainly a, "I feel like I'm going to regret it if I don't" kind.]

[ Hien gently wraps his arms around him and lightly pats his back. ]

Hugs are free, you know. You also went through a lot on Saturday like everyone else, so it doesn't mean you're less deserving of one.

[ Hien is usually warm, and his little cozy sweater makes it even softer for Idia to press his face into. ]

Well, then I guess you're getting a purple item for free.

[ Shh. He keeps hugging Idia, though he wonders what would happen if he touched his hair. So he attempts to give him a gentle headpat. ]

[The real embarrassing part is probably how he doesn't feel like what he experienced nearly justifies this level of physical contact. Uwaa, he's sinful, taking advantage of M'lord Static's kindness just to get a hug.]

[Idia's hair doesn't sting to touch. There's a flicker to it, similar to how flames might lick over something, but there isn't heat or searing. It's also a little more tangible than a flame, with the feeling that he can manipulate it with his hands if he wants to.]

[ People need a hug! It's easy, so Hien is here to provide. He will fight Idia that he has Rights.

Hien has a flame swirl around his finger before trying to gently pet Idia's head again. ]

I hope... that you feel better, and know that you won't be alone.

[It felt like such a silly worry, once the ghoul sitting on his subconscious had been kicked out.]

Ah. R- Right, [he pulls back a little, still with his arms around Hien's torso but without muffling his voice.]

There was an event! I- In the "I guess we're partners" link... b- but I'm not sure if I still... n- need you to ask him anything...

Did you two resolve it between yourselves?

[ He might even feel a little proud of them if they did?? ]

... u- um... w- well, we're... going to try... and compromise.

[Is it a lot more complicated than that? Yes. Does he want to admit everything that happened, including his own repossession and Cater goading him and a lot of crying? No way!]

[ Since compromise was one of the things they talked about, Hien seems satisfied as he continues to pat his head. ]

That's good to hear. You're getting better.

[Well, the praise is nice, at least... After one last look, Idia will finally withdraw his arms. He's not pulling super far away but the time for the hug has passed. At least for now.]

... he's still acting a little weird but, um. I can't tell if that's normal weird or a weird I should be worried about.

[ He wonders if that just means Cater needs some time to himself... ]

Every now and then... it's like he's taking lines right out of my gloomy chara handbook!

I can't really be the peppy one to make up for it so when he says something like that I just get freeze statused and stop talking.

[ Luckily, Hien is more of a game nerd than anything else, so what Idia says translates over pretty well. Cater being gloomy... he wonders what's wrong. It makes him want to go talk to him. ]

... It's alright. You don't need to become the peppy one to match the situation.

[ Idia... Peppy............... Hien can't handle extremely peppy people the most. ]

It must be weird seeing him like that, huh?

[Even when Idia was excited, he was hardly peppy. And his excitement was mostly limited to what he enjoyed rather than trying to enforce it on others. Even when he had briefly considered if he could be a peppy character to see M'lord Static's tsundere side... no, impossible, inconceivable.]

... w- well, rather than... weird...

[Even though in his own possessed state he had doxxed Cater's fakeness a bit, he doesn't want to go into more details about what the two of them discussed. What if this is "normal" Cater?...]

... it's easy enough to make me happy with a game or candy but obviously two different people are going to have different favs...

["I'd like to do something to make him happy but LOL what?"]

Have you thought about food? I cook him spicy ramen every now and then, which is basically just instant ramen, but better.
