02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

They can be, if you used rare ingredients.

[ But he hums a little, looking at Owen curiously. ]

Oh? Have you put illusions over anything important?

Of course. That's just commonsense.

[Do you take him for a fool...! Because you should.]

But most people don't like to spend Forest of Dreams for very long. It makes it a great place to keep things I might need later.

[ He doesn't! Yet. ]

Why don't they like it? Are there cruel illusions there?

It's the poison, mostly. Weaker wizards can still be effected by it, and while stronger wizards can guard themselves from it... It's still unpleasant, so I've heard.

Poison, huh... That is quite the deterrent. If even wizards feel it, I'm sure humans don't stand any sort of chance, right?

Not unless a wizard bothers to protect them. But it's a poison that makes people succumb to dreams... It will show them their greatest fantasies, and they'll feel so much bliss they won't even care that they're dying.

That's a little sad... Although, I suppose a happier death is better than one in misery.

Maybe. I wouldn't know. The poison's never worked on me, no matter what kind of shape I was in.

[He had been curious about it, once. What it would be like - and he knew exactly how he could guarantee he would die. Mithra is obnoxious, but he's easy to provoke and lazy enough that he won't pursue you to make sure the job is done.

So he could start a fight and fly away back to the forest to bleed out - but the visions never came. He just died there, alone and cold.]

[ That's what he assumes... Fai is too strong for most things like that. ]

[Owen's ego isn't just for show, even if his shitty attitude might imply he's all bark and no bite.]

But at least I got to come back.

[ As far as Fai's aware, there's nothing that can bring someone back. ]

Resurrection is supposed to be against the magic rules in MHYK, too. I cry into my hands.]

I don't know how it works. I die but then I come back.

Your heart? How did you manage that?

[ Fai also wants to ask for the reason why, but he has a feeling that Owen might not want to readily give up that information, since for Fai, taking out your heart is kind of a big deal. ]

I don't really remember what was going on when it happened. I just know that it did.

Ah. Interesting. I wonder how that correlates to resurrection.

[ Hmmm... He wonders if Owen technically isn't alive. ]

Don’t know. Probably, but I don’t think anyone else who actually got mentored in magic knows how it works, either.
