02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[ He felt like the mom of his little traveling group, so the fact that she thinks he'd get along with her own doesn't surprise him much. ]

Mm. She's calm but playful, too. But more than that, she likes to take care of people. She'd have you bundled up in a blanket with some tea before you could blink, I'm sure of it.

That sounds nice.

[ It has him thinking now, though… ]

If you ever want tea, Shizuku, come find me and I’ll make some for you.

[ He smiles at her, and something about it seems a little more... genuine. ]

Of course. It's the least I could do while we're all stuck here, right?

[cheerfuldays]

You already do quite a bit. I know you check on others... and you've cooked and make cookies, too.

( but she's certainly not complaining! if anything, she sits there, basking in the warmth of it all. )

[ He laughs a little. ]

Ah… I do. I like doing that sort of thing.

[ Even if it gets him involved in their lives. ]

It's sweet of you. I think it'd be a bit lonelier without you, honestly.

[ That catches him off guard for a moment and his eyes widen ever so slightly before he smiles softly. ]

I'm glad that I'm here, in that case.

shizuku blinks for a moment, looking at fai almost curiously. )

Did you not expect someone to feel that way, Fai?

[partymagician]

[ ...Ah.

He didn't expect her to catch that, and he wasn't quick enough in covering up his expression. ]

I'm not used to others feeling that way. But it's nice to know someone does. I appreciate it.

[cheerfuldays]

I don't know who wouldn't, honestly.

[partymagician]

Well... there are a few people.

[ But he waves a hand, laughing it off. ]

What matters is that I'm happy that you feel that way.

[cheerfuldays]

Of course I do. You've more than earned it, you know.

[ He doesn't exactly feel like he has, but...

He reaches out to ruffle her hair without messing it up. ]

I'm glad you think that I have.

[cheerfuldays]

( shizuku can't help but giggle- )

No one's ruffled my hair like that in years. After I started growing up, everyone treated me more seriously.

[partymagician]

Well, I'm sure I'm way older than everyone else you know, so maybe that's the difference.

[ But even at Shizuku's age, sometimes it's nice to still be treated like a kid. There's something comforting in it. ]

[cheerfuldays]

I'm sure... I never would have guessed you were much older than me, though.

( like. he maybe looks 26 at best? )

It's unusual, isn't it?

[ For people without magic, at least. There are a few of them in their group that are much older than they look. ]

I stopped aging in my early to mid-twenties, I believe. My magic grew powerful enough that my body has just stayed like this.

[cheerfuldays]

Really? Is that... common?

[partymagician]

For those with magic powerful enough, yes. But not everyone gets there during their lifetime.

[cheerfuldays]

That must take incredible work. You're amazing, Fai!

[partymagician]

Ah, it's not that much work!

[ It actually is, but still. ]

I'm sure you work plenty yourself, Shizuku.

[cheerfuldays]

I do, yes, but I think what we do is very different. I can't imagine how different magic would be from music and dance.

[partymagician]

Hmm, I suppose you're right.

[ He may as well go into a little bit of detail about his process. ]

I study words and phrases that are important for a spell, then I make sure I can channel my energy into it just right as I write the words I need. When I was first learning, it took a lot of trial and error for me.
