02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

You're very physically fit and it showed when I was sparring with you. I saw you nail an egg at Luci even though he was so far away too.

Oh, you saw that?

[ He laughs a little, wondering how Hien felt seeing him get pelted with eggs after that. ]

It wasn’t hard, since I’ve practiced archery for a while.

[ It was funny... but he won't say that. ]

A good sharpshooter, huh? I'd say pitching and shooting an arrow are two different things though.

Yeah, they are. I have good accuracy and a lot of arm strength, though.

You think you can carry me when you're not being a klutz?

[ Heh. ]

Probably.

[ He grins, tilting his head and resting it against Hien’s shoulder. ]

Do you want me to carry you?

No. I need the k...

[ ...

His face falls. ]

This is bad. I think I'm getting attached to the kids here.

[ He laughs, reaching out to lightly pinch Hien’s cheek. ]

Of course you are. You’re a big softie.

[ Hien admitted that he was a big softie, so it's not like he can go back on his words now. He just sighs when Fai pinches his cheek. ]

Stop that.

[partymagician]

[ He laughs softly, withdrawing his hand. ]

So you don’t want the kids to see you in an embarrassing position? Is that it?

[ And yet Hien is putting Fai in an embarrassing position now!

…Well, it would be if Fai was embarrassed easily. ]

My image to them was what got me a gun pretty easily.

[ So he thinks that's important. ]

But the thing is, I'm not sure whether I want to be that sort of person they can look up to or if I don't. I can't really leave them alone when they look troubled and I want them to enjoy their lives. They only have one, so I want them to feel fulfilled.

[ Fai reaches out to unlock the door. ]

Well, it sounds like you’re already that person they look up to… and trust.

[ As someone who has stumbled into that sort of role without meaning to, he knows it when he sees it. ]

If you don’t want to be, you’ll need to change that image sooner rather than later.

Easier said than done. You know it too.

[ Hien pushes the door with his foot to get in and puts Fai down on his respective bed. ]

This is pretty much the problem you have. It sucks.

[ Fai kicks at Hien with his foot, but it’s more of a tap. ]

Well, that just makes us no better than the other, doesn’t it?

At least I can acknowledge it without being prompted.

[ Don't tap his leg. Wow. ]

Maybe we're more similar than expected.

[ thanks, he hates it. ]

Why do you sound so disappointed?

[ Like… Fai agrees that it’s bad to be similar to him, but still. ]

Because it means you understand how bad it is. No one should have to feel that way.

[ Hien goes to sit on his own bed. ]

[partymagician]

Well, I do. I never know what I’m getting into and I always make mistakes.

[ So that’s that. ]

[selfconcept]

[ Hien grabs the yes/no pillow, looking down at it in his hands before chucking the no side at Fai's face. ]

Stop that.

[partymagician]

[ He’s about to tell Hien that he doesn’t need to stop doing something he’s right about, but he stares down at the pillow. ]

I got one of these too. Do they imply what I think they imply…?

Hm? Imply what?

[ Hien continues to be a rock. ]

[partymagician]

I don’t know how you could say those things to Marcus yet have no idea what this pillow means.

[ He throws it back at Hien, aiming for his head. ]

[ Anyway. ]

What... is it some kind of sign to use if you're too shy to agree or disagree to having—

[ Blasphemy. Hien would just say it outright.

The pillow also gets chucked at his face, making him land on his back onto the bed. He stays like that... ]

[ And a weirdo.

He just looks at Hien. ]

It’s probably just convenience. Or a bad joke.
