02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[ "Ouchie", huh... Hien is on his bed, covered from neck to toe with a blanket so he resembles a teru teru bozu. He doesn't dare get out of bed though. ]

... You okay?

[tosa]

Yeah, yeah. (He waves one hand in the air,) Guess I just don't know my own feet today or something.

(But he's going to hop, skip, and then walk over to Hien's bed. He has a little bag from the store! Water! Painkillers! And some off-brand cheez-its and potato chips.)

Should be asking about you. How're ya doing?

[ Hien pats on the empty space on his bed to gesture that Mutsu can sit. ]

Yeah. That's why I'm really wary about getting out of bed. Because of that, I'm in even more pain. My partner's not gonna like that, wherever he is. I should probably contact Florence about it, since it doesn't seem to be an isolated phenomenon.

[ He wonders if their ears are getting sabotaged now. He doesn't like that. ]

You should take a painkiller too. I feel like I heard that toe stub.

[tosa]

(He sets the bag down on the bed first! But the bottle of painkillers just sort of rolls out, off the bed, onto the floor, and under the bed or something. He lets out a sigh!!! And he's going to go get that,)

That bad?

(He can't?? Find the bottle??)

I guess 'm just used to always being a li'l beat up so I don't really notice.

[ Sorry, it must have rolled behind the box and all sorts of miscellaneous things. This is the only reason why Hien's half of the room is clean right now. He'll properly clean later. ]

I'm usually good at not being clumsy, so it's pretty weird to me. It definitely caught me off guard... why are you always getting beaten up?

[tosa]

Huh, I'm always getting into trouble so I didn't really notice.

(Not true. He definitely noticed but he's going to play it down. Just gonna go under the bed and feel around for it.)

Part of the job. (Says Mr. Contract Worker.) 's pretty dangerous back home.

Oh, right. Contract worker. You're so carefree that I forgot you work that kind of job.

[ The little bottle rolled towards... a little yellow and white cat plush with a :3 face. Take it, nya. ]

(Oh, very cute. He'll take the cat plush and the bottle. WHen he starts to come out from under the bed... he hits his head. Hard. Hien definitely felt that.)

Yowch...

(He'll just sit on the ground for a sec and put the bottle and the doll on Hien's bed,)

Huh... what kinda person do you imagine working like that?

[ Though that ranges from a LOT of things... ]

Hm? Why did you get the doll out—

[ Damn, that thud was loud... ]

Are you okay?

[ He reaches over to soothingly pat his head. There, there. ]

Well...

(Oh. He'll lean into the headpat just a little because touch is healing. He mutters a quick, "yeah, yeah" but continues his line of thought,)

You ain't wrong! But there're a bunch of us touken danshi. You'd be surprised how different everyone is.

[ Hien continues petting Mutsu as if his hand is on autopilot, but. Huh. ]

That's not... swordsman, is it? Sword men? Sword boys?

[ Things make sense all of a sudden when Mutsu mentioned he was a spirit or something. ]

A literal sword boy.

(In these trying times, how about an emotional support sword dog.)

(Which doesn't explain anything but yeah.)

Hien is familiar with Japanese enough to get the general understanding of it anyway, so it's fine. ]

Also, I thought your hair would be a lot more coarse, but it's softer than I expected.

Huh, I thought more people'd ask questions... guess spirits are pretty normal for a lot of guys here.

(He sits up straighter because no one has ever called his hair soft but that sounds like a compliment and like all dogs, he loves praise,)

Is it? Guess I'm just used to this form now.

[ No hesitation. While petting him, he takes a closer look at his hair. ]

... This part looks like animal ears.

Gah, now you're embarrassin' me.

(Please, he isn't cute. (he is.))

(He doesn't get it. He does not have any self-awareness re: being a doggo ok.)

[ He touches them a little, not wanting to ruin the hair styling. ]

Also, I heard that you made the eggs. A lot of work must have gone into then. Thanks. They're cute too.

Like a dog? Gahaha! Was kind of hopin' I'd be somethin' else. (Like a dragon!!!!) Nothing wrong with dogs, though.

Yeah, so ya like 'em? I was just thinking... everyone'd work harder to keep 'em safe if they were special!

Well, you're right. I'm gonna keep them in my room. I'm not tossing these out. I'll use other eggs instead.

[ Which might defeat the purpose of Mutsu making those eggs, but Hien just wants them to last before they go bad. ]

Yeah, I know. I'll only keep them as long as I'm able. I took pictures though, so that I can look back at them.

[ He may be dumb but he's not that dumb. Maybe. ]

Anyway, why did you drag the cat plush out of the bed?

You should eat it.
