02 - week two

WEEK TWO
When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

Well, anyone with the right skills can manage to do things like that that are outside of what something's intended for, you know? In that case, they'd just have to plan for that next time. That's how we improve upon things!

[That's a delightfully optimistic opinion of the capacity of humanity to improve. Sholmes seems to have liked it]

If only more people shared such an opinion. I once invented a security camera for an acquaintance of mine. He had many complaints about it and said the only thing it would achieve was to drive him to bankruptcy!

Oh? It's hard to imagine ways to go wrong with a security camera. Aren't those universally useful? I mean—... heh, I'm no expert. My job now gives me more exposure to modern technology but stuff like that hadn't even been invented in my time.

[ he has no idea how cameras work but honestly how can you do a camera badly sholmes?? ]

Security cameras would be far more practical if they could record like these tablets do. My acquaintance complained all the photographic paper they had to constantly buy for it to function was far more expensive than my camera was worth.

[Sholmes does a pose]

What did he expect? If the camera takes a picture every half an hour, of course it would need large amounts of paper!

[To be fair, security cameras were far ahead from Sholmes' time, and he gets credit for inventing one that worked to some extent. On the other hand, it took one photo every half hour, so yeah, that's a lot of wasted paper. Fortunately for Sholmes he comes from the Ace Attorney universe, so his invention took useful photos with the right timing]
