WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[Now this he didn't see coming! Leaving behind his clothes in the washing machine and probably forgetting to come back for it until, like, the next day, Sholmes comes out of the laundry room, a tad more cheered up by virtue of having something else to deal with]

Mr. Shroud, it's so gratifying to hear that grating electronic voice. How may I be of service?

[Like a timid cat, Idia takes a few steps back as Sholmes takes steps out of the laundry room,]

[(And he does furrow his eyebrows a bit at "grating" even though it's hardly as if his own voice were being insulted. His... tablet's?? honor has been insulted?)]

"Here."

[And from behind the tablet, Idia sticks out his hand where he's loosely holding onto- the voucher he got for "participating" in the pep rally.]

[Sholmes' eyebrows raise when he sees the voucher]

My dear boy, you deserve to keep that. Not only did I alreadyreceive one, you deserve a reward for your cooperation.

[And it's also an apology for him hassling Idia in the first place, but he doesn't say that part]

[It's not necessarily that Idia is obsessed with propriety. After all, he didn't "come clean" about any of the misdirection. He's just used to dealing with the kind of people who would take something like this and turn it into trouble in the future.]

[... besides, to a shut in "not participating" is a prize all its own.]

"A high quality tea set would be wasted on someone like me. Coffee is too bitter. And I can just buy pre-bagged popcorn anyways."

...alright. If you insist in surrendering this reward to me, I will graciously accept it.

[Sholmes takes the voucher, a little conflicted between using it at some point and not using it in case Idia changes his mind. Probably will do the former in a couple weeks, really]

How are you holding up? Last Saturday's class was far more hectic than a pep rally.

[It's a victory, even if a begrudging one. Idia does smile a little in the satisfaction of getting Sholmes to take it. That little smile will stick as he rapidly types up his response,]

"Well, except for one person TOTALLY messing it up, the bomb was no problem!"

[he's definitely a lot more vibrant of a "talker" when he's not talking]

"And I managed to dodge having to present anything. If one part of every Saturday is a game, then, I'm confident I'll graduate the program E-Z!"

Seven weeks ahead of us, Mr. Shroud. Don't get too confident when this is just starting.

[Sholmes shooting down optimism, wow]

[Hey, wow, he's usually the killjoy!]

"Well, I know they wouldn't save the worst for first."

[his shoulders slump a little while he types]

"I was just imagining plenty of worse things."

Now, what about your partner? How is he holding up? He's quite gregarious, isn't he?

[Really gregarious, in contrast to Local Introvert Idia Shroud]

[Idia's face scrunches up a little. He was hardly any good at talking for himself, much less for his roommate. Not to mention the fact that Sunday he was hardly gregarious. If he said that, though, that would probably be "doxxing" and he doesn't really want to pick fight with someone who could expose him to more social events.]

[He returns to the tablet, a little more sure of what he'll say.]

"He's way too cheery as always. He did an okay job on defusal team."

He's a delightful man, isn't he? I have the distinct impression our instructor set you together not only because you come from the same place, but because of your clashing personalities.

[That's his theory as to why he himself was paired with Shin, too. There are absolutely no points in common between Shin and Sholmes]

Good to know he's trying to keep his spirits up. Take care of each other, won't you?

[Ever since Cater kind of shrugged off Sholmes walking into that team's room to snoop around, Sholmes liked him. May as well look out for both him and Idia in some way]

[Understanding that they were put together for a reason doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Still, this is the exact sort of thing he should be careful about, right? What he said about Mr. Popular...]

"His spirits are always up."

[The reassuringly perky to his predictable gloomy!]

"I've already agreed to let him have the door open a grand total of six hours a day! That's a full quarter!"

[His expression clearly says that this is a huge thing he's surrendered and he is still horrified by it.]

Is that so? I will make sure to appear at some point during those six hours when you least expect it. Socialization will do you some good, Mr. Shroud! And who better to be in the company of than a great detective?

[Hah, nah, he won't. And even if he really intended to, he probably would forget and not even go once. He's just messing around]

[His expression immediately reads "please don't!" but, with the amount of time he has to type, he does wrangle it into something a bit less horrified:]

"If you're going to, at least bring a board game from the common room."

[... because, well, if the door's going to be open anyways...]

[Maybe Sholmes is ever so slightly higher than the bottom of list of people he'd care to see bursting into his room.]
