02 - week two

WEEK TWO

When the glitter settles and everyone returns to their dorms - or wherever they intend to sleep for the night, if you’re planning on sleeping at all - your first week of school officially ends. Perhaps it was better than you expected, perhaps it was worse.

Hopefully you learned a bit more about teamwork and school spirit.

Still, this course is going to run for longer than a full week, and come Sunday morning you’re still exactly as you were when you settled down for the night. Still in Estelline, still with that mark on your wrist, still connected to your partner. There are some changes, though. The bookstore has received quite a few books, and those of you who added to the bulletin board and pep rally tasks in the first week will find an envelope taped to their dorm door (or themselves, if they spent the night elsewhere). Inside of the envelope is some kind of voucher! Furthermore, the common area is covered in a bunch of glitter.

Also, there are a ton of eggs in the kitchen – at least 10 dozens.

Florence or Lorelei are still available, should you wish to speak to them.

Finally, you've got some new locations to explore.

OOC NOTE

OOC: Anyone who performed in the Pep Rally (Sabo, Madara, Riku, Shizuku, Herlock, Idia, Flat, Miach) task will be able to redeem a voucher for a prize with one of the NPCs. This can be handwaved, and the prize selection is below.

-Single-serve coffee machine wither a selection of creamer. Comes with packs of coffee beans.
-Popcorn maker and kernels.
-High-quality tea kettle with a selection of just as high-quality tea.
-Carbonation machine (think Sodastream, etc) with flavored syrup.

Any coffee, tea, popcorn, etc. will last characters up to two weeks.

Anyone who participated in the Bulletin Board task will receive a voucher for your choice of two pairs colorful socks with cute animal designs. (Worry frog design available.)

[Says Sholmes, who in twenty minutes probably will be at the bookstore, reading. Still...]

As for solving mysteries, those getting solved are a foregone conclusion. I will continue once I give Ms. Lorelei a thorough scolding for the deceptive quality of this faulty instrument.

His outburst isn't being taken seriously regardless... ]

Coincidentally, I'm sure busying yourself with literature is actually a good way to ameliorate your grief.

She's really in for it now, hm? I hadn't known you were playing it like that because it was faulty.

[Sholmes' mood changes immediately, mostly because he now focuses on Lorelei instead of trying to musically force a square peg into a round hole]

The store had many interesting items, doesn't it? Even though something as basic as a musical instrument turned out to be mediocre, other items such as the compact mirrors are working beautifully. Were it not for how I would rather not risk breaking them, I would already attempt disarming those.

[He didn't buy a sweater but he has to wonder how those work, too. There's no magic, Lorelei said during the Saturday challenge. It's technology! Therefore, perhaps he can figure out the inner workings of all these bizarre elements]

[ Well, that sure is a shift. But, Xingqiu's attention seems to become a little more focused to take in some details. ]

Hmm, that does sound intriguing. Maybe entirely on purpose, of course.

[ ...Though, it does make him recall something he has noticed when he was talking to Phantom for the very first time. ]

Oh, speaking of interesting things, I had been looking through some of the books and stumbled upon some calendars. I'm not sure what this would mean to you since we seem to be from various, different places, but...it seems the year listed on the calendars available was '926'.

[herlocksholmes]

Calendars are largely subjective, my dear fellow. All this tells is that 926 years ago a major event in the history of humanity in this world happened.

[Hmmmm...not that it's useless information. It could be significant in some way. Sholmes nods appreciatively, despite his less than encouraging response]

Hmmm...

Well, here's to us finding things of more substance, then. We've more than enough time to manage that, I'd think.

[ Xingqiu doesn't seem all that discouraged by the response at the very least. Better to have a calm and positive outlook on things. He was admittedly miffed at the beginning but that is not going to get him anywhere at the moment, so. ]

[We do have time by virtue of this not being a murdergame, haha]

Do we...

[Sholmes smiles serenely, hiding how he does have some concerns, but he does say this:]

We will figure if we do, once the weekend comes. Don't let your guard down.

Oh, of course. There's no need to be concerned about that from me.

I'd warn the same to you, but...you seem like quite the sharp one.

[ So he doesn't think it necessary to truly give it himself. But he also does seem to believe the detective's warning is not exactly wrong to give... ]
