W1 SATURDAY

The first week of the Personal Enrichment Course draws to a close, which means it’s time for the first lesson. Hopefully by now you’ve gotten to know your classmates a bit better - but if you haven’t, that’s okay.

This first lesson is just going to be teamwork exercises, after all.

Bright and early Saturday morning, you wake up. Maybe you had a good night’s rest, or maybe you hardly got any sleep... Either way, the sun is shining, the day is beginning, and Lorelei's voice suddenly comes through everyone's tablets as well as the P.A. system on campus.

”Good morning. All students must report to the lecture hall by 8 o’clock for their first lesson. Lessons are mandatory. Please report to the classroom with its doors open.”

Which gives you about thirty minutes, so it’d be best to hurry. Do you want to be tardy? And if you think about bailing, well… you know what might happen if you fail the course.

When everyone gathers in the same hall they awoke in, Florence is there to greet you. They will gesture for everyone to take a seat, and once seated, the projector in the room turns on. Say hello to Lorelei and her usual cup of coffee.

“Good morning, everyone. Welcome to your first official exercise; today’s activities are designed to emphasize teamwork and cooperation so you are all more prepared for dealing with what’s yet to come. I have already split you into teams for the day, via raffle. There will be two activities total, and you will be completing them in the same teams. Regardless of whether you get along with your teammates or not, you’re going to have to figure out a way to finish each exercise successfully.”

She keeps that same calm, collected smile on her lips as she props up what appears to be a tablet of her own on her desk.

I've done advertisements before, but product research and development is a little newer to me. What do you guys think...?

Probably best if we brainstorm first, right?

Mmhm...~ If they're going to try and give it to us it should, like, ideally be useful somehow, right? In some unusual way?

That's a gooood thought. Something unconventional but useful... Does it need to be something that has to do with the light, do you think?

Something with the light would soooo be easier to sell, but would it be catchy enough to win the votes, do you think??

I say we load it up! Make it the most irresistible product on the market. Then we'll stand a better chance.

It'd be pretty useful if it could [ magically ] dispense food. Or maybe change into a weapon.

Wouldn't it be handy to carry around something that size that had a food supply?

[ FOOD IS IMPORTANT, OKAY? really, though, maybe he didn't get enough to eat this morning and that's on his mind. ]

It would have to depend on what size it could dispense.

[ because you could carry like. rations the size of a flashlight?? also if the latter is true then who's fault is that? ]

"Not even magic can do something like that. It could produce a holographic image of food but that's not going to fill you up."

Are you some kind of magic expert?

[I mean, looking at him, it would be weirder if he wasn't a downer, right???]

"Cater and I are students at a magic school. You can use magic to automate cooking something but you can't just create food out of nothing."

"Well, I'll leave marketing to the people who have A++ social skills. In terms of improvement there are quite a few things that can be done, right?

Colored filters to change the beam of light, or cut-outs to make a pattern.

Or some way to display a secret message through the beam of light!"

[There is a little smile on his lips, even though he's letting the tablet do the talking for him. Research and development was one of his strengths. It's just a bit strange to consider low-level stuff without magic.]

I like the secret message idea! That's thinking outside the box. Like Morse code!

"Or maybe have the beam of light do revealing! It looks like a flashlight but the beam lets you see through people's doors,

[HEY SORRY IDIA TYPED FASTER THAN HIS BRAIN THOUGHT, he's quickly slamming both hoodie-covered arms over the tablet to try and muffle the lewd suggestion. He looks mortified. So much for the good start.]

I like the seeing through things idea, too. You're full of ideas! Maybe seeing what's in boxes...

[A pause to think, and then:]

...or acting like the translation app on the tablets? Then again, if we're thinking useful, maybe it could be something that makes you feel nice if it's shined on you?

madara might be taking this in great strides and sabo is, too, admittedly but it's one thing to slip up with your mouth. but your hands?? ]
