06.50 - week six, saturday
W6 SATURDAY
It’s Saturday…and things seem a little more standard, this time, when Lorelei makes a quick announcement on the tablets again at 8am:
”Good morning, students. It’s time for your sixth…and final official lesson. Yes. What this means is that this is the final detected orb located here, and while this does not indicate the end of the course just yet, it is the final day for your evaluation. Florence will meet you in front of the grocery store at 8pm tonight. Please do not be late. You are also free to bring a self-defense weapon with you, and any pain-alleviating items you have received. Nothing else will be allowed.”
She seems to be her usual self this time, and this certainly seems a lot kinder than the "trust exercise" from last week.
—
With the memories of last week’s lesson still lingering, a bit of wariness would be understandable. Still, Florence did say that this week shouldn’t be nearly so bad - whether you believe them or not is up to you - and they’re there at the grocery store, ready for another lesson.
They do seem a bit distracted, as it takes them a moment before they address everyone.
“Hello. Today’s lesson will be focused purely on cooperation. It is another journey into an orb, so things may be unpredictable, but nothing so severe…”
They trail off, before nodding at nothing.
“There is a storm. You must prepare to survive it, and prepare for any other eventualities. As I said, it may be unpredictable. I will be around to help in any way I possibly can.”
With that, it’s off into another orb - and the lush island on the other side. Surely this won’t be too hard, right?

OOC NOTE
Welcome to Week 6 Saturday's event. As Lorelei stated above, this is the final orb lesson for the game. Characters will have to work together to survive on a deserted island through an oncoming storm. How this will work OOCly is simple:
There will be three phases. Planning, gathering, and constructing. Planning will be short and mostly designed to have everyone gather their bearings and figure out who's doing what. Gathering will be collecting materials to help with their survival. Constructing will involve fortifying your "home base" so to speak.
Gathering and Constructing will run for 2 hours each. At the 1 hour mark for both phases, however, random events will happen that may throw characters off-kilter. There may be other things in between depending on character actions, but you can expect them at the hour mark at the very least. Planning will only last for 30 minutes, unless an extension is needed.
These instructions are not IC. This is for OOC organizational purposes.
We also have a section for people to submit threads so we can track progress and determine the outcome of the event. Qualifying threads must have at least 5 comments from you; more details can be found on the top level below.
The storm will happen at 5pm EST.

STORM
Clouds form overhead, casting more darkness upon the island. The wind starts to pick up, and from the very edges of the world, you can see the void start to creep in. People stuck in it are walking towards you now, slowly, as if trying to seek some solace; but you've got your people here, first.
In a matter of minutes, the wind picks up immensely and rain starts pouring down, along with small shards of hail. The waves get a little rowdier. You have ample food to keep yourselves fed and a pretty good water system going, at least, and now it's only a matter of the hut staying put. The radio weatherman Flat discovered is still excitedly talking about the storm that's now made its way to you.
So far, the hut seems to hold up alright. It's shaking a little with the wind, which is where we're at now. The shaking will get worse with time, though, and rain will start to seep in through the roof. Hail is still hitting it as well.
(Also, Chongyun and Shin...you'll probably start experiencing some minor flooding, so good luck in the cave...!)
OOC: We will post another update to the storm at 5:40pm. ]

NOW THIS IS THE RIGHT ONE,
Good luck.
[A voice? But not just a voice - Flat will no doubt recognize the voice immediately, because it sounds just like a a professor he knew... Why would Waver be wishing him luck, though?]

Hello?
[ if the void is coming, then let's try speaking to the open air? who knows. ]

He's eyeing the leaks and tries to put waterproof duct tapes over them. ]

[ Hien tries to tape the leaves to the ceiling so that Fai doesn't have to hold them up too long. ]

Is there anything I can do?

Can you help calm some people? I think that would be really helpful right now.

Ah- where did Shin and Chongyun go?

I will inform you all if I feel anything strange.
[As a bit of an alert, yup. Better keep people informed]

( though, she's still worried... )
... Oh, Cater and I were able to get some blueberries and other fruits, if you'd like. I know it's been a while since we've had access to produce!

I suppose it's good that this cave is on a slope. [ He assumes so anyway since the mudslide continued as he dodged to the side. ] Still... we should try to divert any potential flooding.
[ He sighs. ]
I hope everyone else is alright.

They should be fine. It looked like they had enough materials to strengthen the walls and roof.
[He still has his shovel WHICH CAN CONVENIENTLY WORK TO SCOOP OUT WATER i'm getting my money's worth with this thing okay and a hunting knife if they need to cut anything apart. Actually he also has the walkie-talkie which... Mae has the matching one to, so. Maybe he'll take that out and show Chongyun.]
We can contact them through this if we need to. I don't think it'll pick up on the signal too well while we're in this cave, but we can check up on them if conditions improve.
no subject
But they might as well get started. ]
That's good to know. [ He'd ask more about the walkie-talkie because what the heck is that, but Shin seems confident enough that it'll let them communicate with the others. That's good enough for Chongyun. No point wasting time talking about technology he doesn't understand when there's digging to be done. ] We should be fine, too. I don't think Florence would appreciate it if we came to them for more medical emergencies.

But there are more immediate concerns, which is that he's paired with a very squishy mage who DOES have memories of causing the Voidstorm, and as the hail intensifies and Phantom looks more and more uneasy, there's only one thing in Marcus' mind to do, and that's pull him in and just sort of shield Phantom with his own body just in case.
Anyone who looks at him funny right now will get a glare right back. He doesn't like this situation either! But he is a mirrite - partially Phantom's mirrite, whether either of them like it or not - and a mirrite's job is to protect their master. He's going to do his job and that is that.]

It's much too much like the Voidstorm. Phil's memories of that, his own of the assistance he'd given extracting souls from the Void...]
The storm is supposed to pass through quickly enough.
[It's not the thing that has his every nerve on edge and Marcus definitely knows it. But if he says it, he can try to focus his attention on that instead.]
FOLLOW UP
The voices that Flat and Shizuku may have heard from the radio come through again. This time, there's a voice sounds more sound and clearer: ]
Thank you...for...saving...some of us, before...
[ Then, there's sight of the sky crumbling around you again. Rain and hail get through the roof but there seems to be something keeping all of it from getting in. Yes, some of you might get pelted a little, but given what you've experienced last week? It's not all that bad. ]
Come...home. You...go home.
[ ...The food, fruits, crab and all that you have with you are still in tact. But the void, the storm, thanks to your hard work and resilience -- are gone, as the strange world you're in starts to crumble around you once more, leaving you back at the grocery store area.
No hut, no cave or anything, but the food and resources are still here. ]

Woohoo! Let’s go get dry before we all catch colds!
