It’s Saturday…and things seem a little more standard, this time, when Lorelei makes a quick announcement on the tablets again at 8am:

”Good morning, students. It’s time for your sixth…and final official lesson. Yes. What this means is that this is the final detected orb located here, and while this does not indicate the end of the course just yet, it is the final day for your evaluation. Florence will meet you in front of the grocery store at 8pm tonight. Please do not be late. You are also free to bring a self-defense weapon with you, and any pain-alleviating items you have received. Nothing else will be allowed.”

She seems to be her usual self this time, and this certainly seems a lot kinder than the "trust exercise" from last week.

With the memories of last week’s lesson still lingering, a bit of wariness would be understandable. Still, Florence did say that this week shouldn’t be nearly so bad - whether you believe them or not is up to you - and they’re there at the grocery store, ready for another lesson.

They do seem a bit distracted, as it takes them a moment before they address everyone.

“Hello. Today’s lesson will be focused purely on cooperation. It is another journey into an orb, so things may be unpredictable, but nothing so severe…”

They trail off, before nodding at nothing.

“There is a storm. You must prepare to survive it, and prepare for any other eventualities. As I said, it may be unpredictable. I will be around to help in any way I possibly can.”

With that, it’s off into another orb - and the lush island on the other side. Surely this won’t be too hard, right?

OOC NOTE

Welcome to Week 6 Saturday's event. As Lorelei stated above, this is the final orb lesson for the game. Characters will have to work together to survive on a deserted island through an oncoming storm. How this will work OOCly is simple:

There will be three phases. Planning, gathering, and constructing. Planning will be short and mostly designed to have everyone gather their bearings and figure out who's doing what. Gathering will be collecting materials to help with their survival. Constructing will involve fortifying your "home base" so to speak.

Gathering and Constructing will run for 2 hours each. At the 1 hour mark for both phases, however, random events will happen that may throw characters off-kilter. There may be other things in between depending on character actions, but you can expect them at the hour mark at the very least. Planning will only last for 30 minutes, unless an extension is needed.

These instructions are not IC. This is for OOC organizational purposes.

We also have a section for people to submit threads so we can track progress and determine the outcome of the event. Qualifying threads must have at least 5 comments from you; more details can be found on the top level below.

The storm will happen at 5pm EST.

[ What do you mean you don't routinely chop wood with swords in your world? It's quite normal - at least, Chongyun is making it seem normal with how casually he just starts knocking down thick trunks. The Wolf's Gravestone deserves so much better than this. ]

I find that it helps to give you the most precise and powerful strike when you give your all into it. Do you also have something like that when you fight?

Nooot entirely, but in martial arts sometimes you'll yell when you're doing something! It really does help you focus.

[Beaming.]

And when I was acting in superhero shows, they'd all have really wiiild names for things I'd get to yell!

Whoa... You're really out there making dreams come true for people everywhere, huh? [ As a child, he had also wanted to be a mighty hero who saved the world by vanquishing evil spirits. ] What were the wild names you had to yell?

[Madara legitimately looks a little sheepish about that reaction! He's seriously not used to praise. It makes him work harder, though.]

I mean, I guess I diiiid try! [He strikes a superhero pose.] I think this is the best one for here. It goes: "Wild Jungle Ultra Transformation, Fifth Disguise: Fury Mode! Transform!" [Yes there's a whole series of movements that go with this.]

[ That gets him to stop chopping trees for a moment because - ]

That - that's the same style as some of my techniques! [ He's so excited. ] Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost! To the laymen, these words may mean nothing to them, but every layer in this name is important.

[ If you know you know. ]

That's how it's supposed to work! It really powers you up!

Ahem, may I add: your movements right there were extremely precise. I commend your dedication.

Oh, thanks! It's been a while since I was on that show, so I'm glad I've stiiiill got it! But you must be a real-life hero, with that biiig sword!

[Mae will quickly move out of the way of any falling trunks; Chongyun is efficient with this.]

[ NOT SURE IF THAT IS A GOOD OR A BAD THING. ]

I - yes, it helps to concentrates my physical and mental power... [ He leaves out emotional because there's no helping him there just yet. He's - he's working on it,,, ] ... so I can be as efficient in my strikes as possible.

... Is that weird?

I mean maybe? I don't know a lot of fighters.

I think you should do whatever you want though! You're sure killing those trees.

[ It helps that the trees are probably (??) not real in the same sense as they are, so he feels less bad about all the tree-killing. Plus, he's going for the ones that look more dry and dead. ]

It's rather common where I'm from - uh, to shout these things, not... killing trees. Though we do chop them with swords, occasionally. I was thinking we might need enough not just for a fire to purify our water, but to keep you all warm should we decide to make a clay furnace or the like.

Huh. Well you guys know more than I do...

[She's just going to assume that everyone from Chongyun's world swings around a sword and exorcises ghosts.]

That's smart, though. Need any help carrying it back?

[ His vague gesture is supposed to ask if she's like tiny but impossibly strong like some of the people he knows back home. ]
