06.50 - week six, saturday
W6 SATURDAY
It’s Saturday…and things seem a little more standard, this time, when Lorelei makes a quick announcement on the tablets again at 8am:
”Good morning, students. It’s time for your sixth…and final official lesson. Yes. What this means is that this is the final detected orb located here, and while this does not indicate the end of the course just yet, it is the final day for your evaluation. Florence will meet you in front of the grocery store at 8pm tonight. Please do not be late. You are also free to bring a self-defense weapon with you, and any pain-alleviating items you have received. Nothing else will be allowed.”
She seems to be her usual self this time, and this certainly seems a lot kinder than the "trust exercise" from last week.
—
With the memories of last week’s lesson still lingering, a bit of wariness would be understandable. Still, Florence did say that this week shouldn’t be nearly so bad - whether you believe them or not is up to you - and they’re there at the grocery store, ready for another lesson.
They do seem a bit distracted, as it takes them a moment before they address everyone.
“Hello. Today’s lesson will be focused purely on cooperation. It is another journey into an orb, so things may be unpredictable, but nothing so severe…”
They trail off, before nodding at nothing.
“There is a storm. You must prepare to survive it, and prepare for any other eventualities. As I said, it may be unpredictable. I will be around to help in any way I possibly can.”
With that, it’s off into another orb - and the lush island on the other side. Surely this won’t be too hard, right?

OOC NOTE
Welcome to Week 6 Saturday's event. As Lorelei stated above, this is the final orb lesson for the game. Characters will have to work together to survive on a deserted island through an oncoming storm. How this will work OOCly is simple:
There will be three phases. Planning, gathering, and constructing. Planning will be short and mostly designed to have everyone gather their bearings and figure out who's doing what. Gathering will be collecting materials to help with their survival. Constructing will involve fortifying your "home base" so to speak.
Gathering and Constructing will run for 2 hours each. At the 1 hour mark for both phases, however, random events will happen that may throw characters off-kilter. There may be other things in between depending on character actions, but you can expect them at the hour mark at the very least. Planning will only last for 30 minutes, unless an extension is needed.
These instructions are not IC. This is for OOC organizational purposes.
We also have a section for people to submit threads so we can track progress and determine the outcome of the event. Qualifying threads must have at least 5 comments from you; more details can be found on the top level below.
The storm will happen at 5pm EST.

IT'S WOOD CHOPPING TIME. ]

and at least it won't be too far of a walk for him since he's starting off with the trees closest to the encampment. ...and making sure that the trees he falls end up falling in the opposite direction of where they are as well. ]
no subject
Need any help, there?
no subject
If you want to help me take down some of the trees you're more welcome to. I'll make faster work.
no subject
Can do! I don't have an axe, but I can at least help steady it and pull leaves and branches out of your way.
no subject
That's plenty good enough work for me. Saves me a bit of trouble and time to get to the even harder work.
no subject
What's your game plan?
no subject
[ which means there will be logs verses like...planks to take back. but there's a handsaw to further break down the tree?? ]
I'm particularly going to go for those that looks more vulnerable to falling.
[ so, smaller trees. also they'd go faster to chop chop. ]

there will be plenty of wood to lug back, especially since sabo is taking out any frustrations out on the tree. cheerfully, of course. he might be falling some trees that are of the fruit bearing variety too so if marcus wants to do double gathering duty..!! ]
no subject
... he also miiiiiiight ask to borrow the axe for a little just so he can also do some "taking out frustrations on an innocent tree." You know, as you do sometimes.]
no subject
and WELL if marcus wants to tag in and let off a little steam in a completely productive way, then he only needs to ask! felling trees is hardwork and breaks are also necessary. ]
no subject
[Especially not because he's getting the feeling there's probably more to this than just some storm...]
no subject
marcus is definitely not wrong in thinking about that but hmmm. ]
I'd appreciate that. [ he'll take a mini break from whatever tree he might be currently whacking at to kick it down and have it go crashing down. ] I don't know how many of us are going to dare to go deeper into the forest, but I know Ace and I have experience exploring jungles and dealing with all sorts of threats that lie within them.

[That's just how these things usually work... he's from a JRPG, he knows!]
no subject
[ but. looks at their wood situation... ]
Depending on how quickly we can get the necessary supplies to our home base, we may have time to go explore deeper to see what might be lurking near us.

[ he's here to help carry for the chopper! ]

[ yes, good. come help lug these things back to the encampment. multiple hands will make faster work. ]
no subject
Maybe, but it was a lot of fun back then.
[ it sure does help having multiple people working together. ]
no subject
No doubt about that. It was also a nice to do something that felt like it was just for the three of us.
[ making their own home. being independent and sustainable despite the lack of oversight. ]
no subject
At least we can have a bit of a taste of that.
[ and even before luffy came along... just the two of them. though, it does feel like something is missing without luffy here by their side, making trouble. ]
no subject
True enough.
[ ... ]
How about we explore the jungle after things get a bit more settled? We might find something to eat that isn't fruit or fish.
no subject
That sounds like a good idea. From the sound and looks of it, not everyone is used to this survival thing.
no subject
[ which is good news because uh this happens and sabo will quickly shift gears. ]
Ace—we need to move.
