04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

[ Uh oh. Those mats tell Fai that they're not doing the kind of dancing he knows how to do. ]

[ Fai knows what they are in function, but as a dance move? Yeah, no. ]

[ He laughs sheepishly. ]

...I think you've got the wrong guy.

[ Hyunjung's friends seem disappointed, but that's that. A look of horror flashes on Hyunjung's face. ]

I... I did?! I'm sorry—

[ "Yeah, yeah. Go escort him back, Hyunny." ]

It's Hyunjung!

[ Hyunjung. He recognizes that from the profiles.

So this is Hien, in some shape or form. Although using the nickname is temping, he remembers how adamant Hien was about using his name. Perhaps Hyunjung is the same. ]

Don't worry about it, Hyunjung. I can help you find the right person, if you'd like.

[endearments]

Okay. I'm sorry to drag you into this...

[ He seems regretful about it. Unlike Hien, his emotions are very much obvious and he's very expressive. ]

Thanks. Let's go. They should be back at the library, since that's where they were gonna be.

[partymagician]

[ Wow, that expressiveness is unusual coming from someone with a similar face to Hien's.

But, that could make things interesting too... ]

Alright!

[ Fai holds his hand out. ]

Are you going to hold my hand on the way back too?

[endearments]

Huh? Do you want me to?

[ Apparently there's nothing wrong with that. ]

[ He wasn't flustered... how sad.

Fai shrugs. ]

I thought you would want to, since you did before. Either way, let's get back so you don't hold up your team any longer.

[endearments]

Okay.

[ Though Hyunjung peeks over at Fai every now and then. ]

Are you a model? Because you're really pretty.

[ He sounds so genuine too.

Unfortunately, Fai might feel someone watching... it's coming from the direction of the library and definitely giving off murderous intent. ]

[partymagician]

Nope! But if you have a job offer for me, I'll take it!

[ He laughs, but then he suddenly feels someone else's presence.

Someone is watching them... or more likely, Hyunjung. Fai puts a hand on his back and guides him away from the library. ]

Actually, how about we skip your team meeting and have coffee instead?

[endearments]

Huh?

[ ????? Hyunjung looks surprised and a little but flustered. Is this pretty guy asking him on a date? ]

[partymagician]

[ He tries to sense whether or not whoever is watching them is still at the library, or if they've moved closer. ]

It's alright if you reject me, but at least let me know sooner rather than later!

[ Fai sure hopes that he isn't rejected, though, because he needs to get Hyunjung out of here.

It's a good thing Fai was here at all, so he could sense that presence in the first place. ]

[endearments]

Ah, um... well...

[ Hyunjung gets a text from his friends, saying that he can just go home.

... ]

I guess I'm free now!

[ The staring is still from the library's direction, but if Fai and Hyunjung start moving, it too, will slowly follow. ]

[partymagician]

Oh, you are? Perfect!

[ Fai leads Hyunjung away from the library, picking a random direction and sticking to it. Once he feels that presence following, he leans in close to whisper in Hyunjung's ear.

The smile stays on his face so that his own worry doesn't show. ]

There's someone following us.

[endearments]

[ hyaaaa Hyunjung flinches and shivers. ]

W-What? Maybe they want your autograph...?!

[partymagician]

[ Sorry Hyunjung...

Fai shakes his head, his expression growing more serious. ]

People don't ask me for autographs. [ Anyway. ] They're following you.

[endearments]

Why...? I'm not anyone special.

[ Hyunjung truly believes that, but he's walking along anyway. ]

[partymagician]

[ Fai doesn't believe that, but he's not going to go on that whole spiel right now. ]

I don't know why. I can just feel that they're watching you and not me. [ ... ] The stare feels violent.

[endearments]

Can you lead me to the campus police station? I think they can keep me safe until my sister picks me up.

[ He thinks this is a reasonable suggestion. ]

Sorry, I didn't want to trouble you even more...

[partymagician]

Your safety is the most important thing right now, so I don't mind.

[ He smiles. ]

Lead the way, please.

[ Fai will keep pretty close to him as they walk, just in case. ]

Thanks. You make me feel safe.

[ He smiles and leads the way. He's still confused about someone wanting to hurt him, because he doesn't think he did anything wrong or hurt someone... when he's ahead, his expression droops a little. ]

I'm glad.

[ That's what he would hope for, especially in this type of situation.

The way Hyunjung's expression changes for the worse has Fai digging for things to talk about. ]

Tell me about yourself, Hyunjung.

Oh, um... I'm a student here st this university. The group you saw are my friends. We're in a breakdancing crew. I participate in another dance group too, where we perform for all kinds of reasons, like charity and stuff, but it's mostly fun.

Wow, how cool~

[ Dancing is cool, especially for charity! ]
