04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

[The boy looks over with surprise, looking genuinely confused at the question. Unlike before, he doesn't avert his gaze.]

...There was a battle. Do you not remember...?

[As dull as the boy's eyes are, there's a clear note of concern that peeks through in his voice.]

Well, no, not really. To put it simply.

[ Because he wasn't here for it. Though it's nice for the boy to be concerned, at least. ]

[That answer only serves to make the boy even more bewildered, but even as he opens his mouth to say something else, he's interrupted by the sound of footsteps. The teenager approaching them is closer to Xingqiu's age, with short silver hair and cold amber eyes although he doesn't seem to pay any mind to either of them. And as he draws closer, he pulls a handgun out from the holster at his leg and racks the slide back in one fluid motion before pointing the muzzle down at the injured person lying by them.

Three shots. The roar of the gun is loud at this range and neither do they miss their target, all striking the person's forehead neatly. The boy, meanwhile, stares dumbfounded at the sight of the now-dead teenager.]

Wha...?

[ He jumps at the suddenness of that. There is nothing he can do to hide the surprised look on his face, though it does change soon enough as he takes a glance at the other teenager.

At least his expression is schooled well enough by now, as he glances back over at the now...dead body. ]

...A mercy kill, is it?

[ This is all pretty gruesome, putting it lightly. ]

[The teenager with the gun, Isuka, scoffs as he decocks the pistol and holsters it, giving Xingqiu a withering look.]

You only figured it out now? How long have you been at this already? Don't tell me you're the reason that moron went and dragged this idiot out.

[There's a dismissive glance at the corpse laying at his feet. And all the while, Shin just looks at Isuka with an expression caught between bewilderment and something more accusatory.]

Seeing as you killed him a few moments ago I don't think it took all that long for me to figure it out, actually...

[ He'll just kindly point that out. ]

Hm. Well, he looked like he needed assistance so first I helped open up the machine and then I decided to lend a hand in pulling him out. Why are you upset about it?

[ Xingqiu doesn't like this other teenager's attitude but he will just roll with things. ]

Yeah? Then don't point out the obvious like a dumbass.

[Sorry Xingqiu, Isuka's just an asshole... But in any case, it does seem like he seems to be under the impression that Xingqiu's been here for a good while longer than the past fifteen minutes or whatnot. Meanwhile, the rest of the surviving squadron members also seem to have gathered a little distance away to watch this whole scene, although many of them wear indifferent or skeptical expressions.

Isuka, meanwhile, just lets out a sharp bark of laughter.]

No wonder he's like this. Hey, do you think you're being kind by doing this? Maybe showing him what human decency is like?

[fabulation]

You're a real joy at celebrations, aren't you?

[ Isuka really is quite an asshole, hot damn. But he will just roll with the punches.

He also could always say he hasn't been here any longer but that sounds like too much trouble, to be quite honest. Xingqiu will just do what is most convenient for him right about now. ]

...Hmm. Those are interesting questions.

Are you really bothered by me helping him out, though? Is that why you're asking them?

[ He tilts his at Isuka like he's a big weirdo. ]
