04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

( oh goodness. laughing, shizuku sits down slowly, trying so carefully to avoid bumping any of the little ones- or worse. and for better or worse, her lap is open and free game. )

Goodness, there's so many of you- is this your school?

( as she looks around, trying to give all of them a bit of attention, she spots the pomchi and pauses. after a moment, she waves with a soft smile. )

[ The pomchi just gives Shizuku a short nod in acknowledgement. Maybe it's shy? Maybe it doesn't like the crowd. Either way, it stays away from Shizuku, because the baby animals are all gathering to mob Shizuku's lap now... They really like her and are driven by curiosity.

"What's your name, human lady?"
"Yeah! What's your name?"
"I bet her name is pretty like her!" ]

( shizuku laughs, and honestly she's smiling so much her face kind of hurts but how do you not smile at a bunch of baby animals mauling you for attention? you just don't. )

My name is Shizuku. It's so nice to meet all of you! Can you tell me your names...? Ah, one at a time, please.

[ "I'm Minnie!" says a male puppy.
"I'm Whiskers." A female kitten.
"Toby." A fox pup.
"Hyunjung!" A very similar pomchi as the loner pipes up.

And a lot more. All of these baby animals introduce themselves. There's at least twenty that surround Shizuku, but they want everyone to introduce themselves if they're in the vicinity, so the other animals look over at the lone pomchi. ]

... Hien.

[ All the other voices were expected to be heard from baby animals: cute, high-pitched, maybe squeaky... but this pomchi's voice is definitely deeper than everyone else's and sounds like an adult.

And very much like the Hien who Shizuku knows without the distortion and static. ]

( shizuku greets everyone enthusiastically- befitting of an idol, but also, who wouldn't? monsters is who. and when hien introduces herself, she's almost taken aback... but her smile only grows. )

Really! What a coincidence- I know a Hien as well. I'm very fond of him!

Yeah? What a lucky guy.

[ Hien doesn't seem to be impressed. He knows it's a fairly somewhat common name, so he doesn't think it's anything weird. ]

Too bad you couldn't bring him with you.

He's probably busy right now. ... You sound an awful lot like him, though.

( maybe he'll know, maybe he won't. she doesn't mind either way, returning most of her attention to the babies. hi babies. you're all so cute... )

Yeah.

[ A Hien that sounds like him? Weird. He's never seen this girl in his life! ]

It's recess time, but they'll be heading back soon. I just watch over them... what's that guy like anyway? Anything that stands out?

They must love you a lot.

( granted, the babies seem very full of love in general.

at his question, shizuku hums in thought for a moment. )

He's... honest, and kind. I think he's kinder than he thinks he is, but I know quite a few men like that. He's looked after me a lot, and I'm grateful for him. ... He's really funny, too- at one point I saw him moving all the math books to the fiction section!

( she giggles fondly at the memory as she plays with one of the puppies. oh- oh look at those big jumps!!! )

[ The babies jump for MMJ Shizuku. It's like they know. ]

Yeah? I think I'd do the same. When you get to the harder stuff in math, it seems irrelevant, but it's just another way to make sense of something. Math was my worst subject...

[ Blech. ]

( and she's praising them all so much between the conversation! oh you are all so talented and adorable! )

It's not really my favorite either, but I don't think I mind it as much. ... Science is the real menace, however factual it may be.

( she is so very serious. by which i mean, she speaks grimly and immediately giggles because she's incapable of actually being grim. it is a struggle subject though. )

[ He gets that. Science I'd a combination of subjects, so honestly...

Unfortunately for Shizuku, the school bell rings, marking the end of recess. The baby animals look unsatisfied because they want to play with Shizuku more!! But they must go to school. They all say their goodbyes with cute gestures before toddling back into the school building.

Hien is the only one left. ]

You should go home too.

( aw.... bye, babies! shizuku waves them all off with a sweet 'have a good day!' and remains where she sits for a while longer, looking around the world around them before hien speaks. )

... I would, but I'm afraid I don't know the way. I think I fell through a portal.

You fell through a portal... that sure is some way to get isekai'd.

[ Anyway. ]

[ He hops down from where he sits and sits next to Shizuku's feet looking up with an unintentional blep. ]

It's been happening a lot this weekend, I've noticed.

( shizuku that explains nothing at all.

but then he jumps down and... oh... cuuuuuute... hien bleps...! shizuku smiles and nods, hands behind her back for a moment. )

I'll trust you to lead the way! I've never been here before, so I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to begin.

This isn't really a magically inclined world, so you should be fine.

[ Hien starts toddling off to lead Shizuku. ]

This world... what is it like?

It's a small one... and peaceful. Baby animals go to school, everything is happy, the babies play all day... The biggest problem this place had is the occasional bad weather and bullies, but I take care of those easily.

... They're just kids being kids.
