04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

[Alright, fucking rude.

Owen goes down, though, scowling at the wires.

The redhead seems nervous with Hien around, but there's still a stubborn determination. He needs to protect his squad, and he says as much to Hien, so he won't just leave them here.

Owen, for what it's worth, is annoyed, but (un?)fortunately... He can still cast magic while tied up.]

[So hopefully Hien can handle the shards of ice coming his way, because Owen's had enough of his interference.]

[ He sure can, but he just takes it--only because he's aware that their pain links don't work in these memory portals for some reason. It hurts, but he yanks out the ice shards out of himself and throws them back at Owen like he's hurling a javelin. ]

Then go protect your squad somewhere else.

[ Regeneration feels really nice. It's as if he never got hurt, aside from the blood stains a second ago that stained his clothes. It's whatever. He yanks at the wires to throw Owen from side to side. ]

[He can't exactly dodge while tied up, so he also has no choice but to take it.

The redhead does seem to finally accept that he is way of his league here, and there's a moment's scramble to grab the most injured of his squad and leave.

Owen scowls as he gets thrown around - so his next spell is targeted at shredding the wires that are wrapped around him.]

[ The wires get shredded, but there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Despite that, he throws Owen onto the ground, letting him go. ]

Though he'd actually be stubborn and put up a fight. Guess I was wrong.

He wants to keep his precious people and country safe more than he wants to kill evil wizards.

[It's sarcastic, with no small amount of disgust.]

Or that's what Sir Knight claimed to me.

So, are you an evil wizard? More like a bully to me. You could have probably blown all of them away with a snap of a finger.

[Time travel’s impossible so he calls bullshit.]

Do you just want his mana stone for yourself? You can take it if you want. I don’t care.

You hate Mithra and Oz because they keep killing you. Sometimes it's deserved, sometimes it isn't.

[ Owen is right. Hien isn't a time traveler, but he can travel to different worlds where time has gone back! That's basically the same thing.

That's not important right now though. ]

Who are you? Is there something you actually want? Because I don't think you actually think I was going to make a promise.

[ With that, he instantly reappears in front of Owen in an attempt to stab him. It's just a normal kitchen knife. Of course he'd have it with him. ]

[Finally. Finally Hien gets to stab Owen.

Who doesn't look all that impressed by the stab, arching an eyebrow as he starts to bleed.]

This is your plan?

No. I never have plans.

[ He pulls the knife out. The gear noises click in the background, and he turns into a bipedal, shadowy monster.

Time to get eaten, Owen-chan. ]

[Well, that's new.

Owen doesn't know what this shadowy monster can do, but it explains why the stranger feels so odd. He's not going to let himself get eaten without making it as obnoxious as possible, so he gathers his magic...

And disappears. Hien's not the only one who can teleport. Still, his magical energy is unique and he didn't go terribly far considering they were on the Northern border.]

[ The monster doesn't teleport, but it can be fast. Which is why, it starts zooming like some blurred out mistake on Photoshop, tracking Owen down pretty easily. It's Pac-Man now. ]

[Fucked up but interesting. Owen watches the monster chasing him, deciding to see how far he can get and what might stop it. The Forest of Dreams is smothered in poison, after all, so he heads deeper into the woods after mounting his broom - flying is much faster than running - his senses letting him know how much time he has left.

The poison gas is densest in the center of the forest, and if the shadow isn't immune to it it should feel euphoric, joyous, while before its eyes it will see what it most desires in this moment. Or it might not impact it at all. Who knows!]

[ The thing about being a one-track mind monster is that it wants to eat. That's all it wants to do. It desires sustenance. Food.

So it basically starts eating up as much poison gas and trees as it can. It's a buffet. This memory is soon going to be without a forest. ]

[Hey? This is his home? Stop that?

Owen sighs, before calling on his magic and setting a magic circle on the forest floor. At least its path is predictable, so it should walk right into it and get immobilized.

[ It just. Chews up the forest floor. With the magic circle on it. rip owen's home........ Unfortunately for him, the monster only gets bigger the more it eats, and therefore, eats more things in its path. ]

[Change of plans. Time to see if this monster is hunting for him by leaving the forest, heading off into the snow. It might kill him, but... it'll be worthwhile to see what all this monster can destroy.]
