04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

[People not accepting Madara has led to him not accepting them. And someday the cycle has to break. At least he has someone who wants to try to tear those heavily fortified walls down.

He notes the wagging tail, and moves to scoop puppy-Hien up.]

[ Hien makes puppy whining sounds when Madara picks him up. ]

But you're kind of... what was it, all-powerful or something, aren't you? You've got a unique perspective on it.

A unique perspective is all I got because I'm so old. I never felt like a god in my existence.

[Madara laughs.]

I'm actually glad to hear that. There's no such thing as gods or heroes.

[Cute fluffy doggo is getting pets, cradled in Madara's arms. Hien are you sick of him yet?]

People can change, even if it takes them a loooong time. People can forgive each other, and all that. Am I right?

[ Calling them heroes just sounds really convenient and full of positive context. Hien is aware that he does things that seem heroic, but it was really for selfish reasons. That seems to happen a lot...

Hien actually likes getting pets in his dog form, so honestly, as long as Madara is holding him comfortably, he doesn't mind. His tail continues to wag. ]

People can change if they're willing to change. Same goes for people forgiving others. They can say they're willing to change or forgive others, but if they don't truly strive for it, all they do is spout words that don't mean anything.

[And Madara is no stranger to both sides of lip service, so he feels that comment deeply. He does keep petting him and holding him like a decent person, not his usual throwing someone over his shoulder.]

I think the future could be different, as long as certain people stay out of it. That's what I'm counting on. That's also why this place is just wasting my time.

You can brood more if you want.

[ That's not wasting time, is it?? Though even if Madara threw him over his shoulder, Hien wouldn't be mad. ]

[He laughs.]

Brooding looks toootally different. This is just me wondering why this had to show up.

Well... it's definitely showing a lot of stuff for other people too. If you didn't explain anything, I think I would have just left.

[ Yeah. ]

[Hilarious. No, really. Madara is dying laughing.]

I'm not that interesting, it's true! I'd be happier if everybody got to see me at a festival instead of with my weeeird family, though. Too bad, so sad. Maybe next time!

It's as if you're inviting me to go into another one of your portals.

[ He looks up at Madara, unaware that his little tongue is sticking out. Blep. ]

[He grins, and boops puppy Hien right on the little button nose.]

There's a really funny one hanging around. You might get a kick out of it. I think you'd like my partner, actually. He's as sharp-tongued as you are. Wish you could meet him. Then you guys could roast me in stereo.

... Is this your way of telling me that you wanna get roasted more?

[ Is that his preference?? Hien squints when his nose is booped. ]

[Laughing.]

Maybe later. People like you make me miss Kohaku, though. It's just nostalgia, at this point, and considering I'll get to see him again soon I don't suppose I need the extra help.

Yeah. It's just an inevitable. You'll definitely get to see him soon.

[ Hien squirms and hops out of Madara's hold, landing perfectly on the ground. ]

Let's get outta here.

[ He was gonna mess with memory-Madara, but after hearing about the religion stuff, he doesn't feel like it anymore. ]

[He'll let Hien do that.]

Yeah. There's nothing else to see here, anyway. Unless you like watching me plant flowers!

[The memory lurches back into motion without him, and he spares a quick chagrined glance back to himself, knowing he won't go talk to Kanata when he really should.

But at least it had a happy ending in reality. Maybe he could have done more, but after this moment in time, he went to spend the evening with his former underclassman, doing his absolute favorite things. Small steps.]
