04 - week four

WEEK FOUR

Saturday comes to a close, and it’s time for some rest and recovery. Perhaps the TLC you deserve will come this week, or perhaps the nightmare will continue. It’s hard to say with things being so strange around you, from Wei Wuxian’s disappearance to the sudden addition of objects and places and creatures from your homes. Who knows what this week will bring? Nothing ordinary, that’s for sure.

You wake up on Sunday to an increase in those little glimpses you saw yesterday. What were snippets of songs, locations that might’ve seemed familiar, and creatures that were dormant, are now all alive and whole. When you go to the karaoke bar, the songs you once knew are there. Monsters and animals are alive and sentient. New business are abound. Vehicles are operable, and perhaps some of your old belongings are back, too.

However, some of these things aren’t even things that should exist outside of your dreams. They may be far too strange and unusual to be real, or just things you don't remember ever seeing. The only thing you remember about these things in particular is that they were, quite literally, in your dreams this week.

That being said, every few hours, all of these things from your homes and dreams fade out and get replaced by new sounds, places, beasts….only to maybe come back again at another time.

Well. At least there's one constant here: You’ve got a handful of new locations to look at, with the fog having spread once more, and they aren't going anywhere. There aren’t as many new places that are native to Estelline this time around, but that may be for the best, considering everything going on.

Also, we have a lot of participants for the news activity from last week. Neat! Everyone who participated in some capacity will have a small polaroid camera delivered to their doorstep. There's limited film, though - 10 photos per camera. It doesn't seem like there's any extra film at this time, either.

Finally, there will not be any weekly tasks this week. You guys are going to be busy with memshare and dreamscape stuff; instead, enjoy the Estelline University Newspaper!

I didn't think that much of it when I discovered the back room of the jewelry store before, but camellias keep coming up. I think there's a connection between the guys from the jewelry store and possibly someone who worked in that "Camellia facility" that just turned up. I didn't get a good look in there yet, but I'm willing to be muscle if someone wants to try to hack those computers or get past a door. Specifically, there was a user with the name "yellowitsme", with camellias in the email signature. It might be too obvious to actually be a connection, but it seemed worth mentioning.

and while i lament forever about how sabo can know about computers but also not at the same time, he'll breeze right through it all and be more interested in the username. it really does seem rather simple, doesn't it? like. what effort goes into a username like that.

Given the rest of what we've discovered so far, do you think that they would have used the jewelry store as a means of influencing people? [ thinks. ] You all discovered that hearing piece there, didn't you?

Yeah, the recording and tracking came from earrings from that shop. The back room had transmitters and everything just hanging out, waiting to be used. I wasn't sure when I first found the back room, but it's pretty easy to guess they were using the jewelry store as a front. Basically, there wasn't another back room, and it wasn't like the one I found was particularly hidden. It was locked, but it'd be like any other similar shopping mall from my world, otherwise. The store's employees might not have known about the tracking, though. A couple of things make me think that, if you really want to dig.

What I don't know is why they targeted Lorelei specifically. I'm thinking she's got more than a little bit of something to do with us being here. But why was somebody tracking her, and where did that person or those people go? That's been eating me up. She's important to more than just this fake self-improvement course. And if everybody else disappeared or got snatched up, why's she special?

[A grin.]

I know I'm rehashing. But once I get stuck on a point I don't let it go too easily.

There's nothing wrong with going over the information we already had from before, especially since we have more information and insights to compare it against. It helps with making a better formed decision or better ways to look at things.

[ or more realistically, have him remember about things that he has forgotten all about. aka the bit about lorelei which has him really just wondering where things would go from there and with all of that.

where does she fit in with all of this. are they on their side or the opposing side? hm. guess it's a matter of viewpoint. florence is a machine and lorelei seems to be keen on "teaching" them about their bonds. whatever that actually means. though. ]

You do bring up a good point, however, where does she fit into this entire picture? She sends Florence to have us go do lessons that are supposed to help the people who were here but have we done anything?

I guess good for her that she's sending us on all these "noble" missions to "help"... But if someone was watching her before we got here, are they the cause of some of the mess, or enabling it, and she was trying to prevent it? Or is it kind of the other way around?

[He runs a finger across his chin thoughtfully, because there's just a lot of little things he needs to wrap his brain around before the big picture will be remotely clear.]

Either way, I'm not really fond of Lorelei. Florence said something, too. That Lorelei wouldn't like them telling us why they were doing the work with us instead of her.

It could be a situation where the two sides are working together but have framed it in such a way that one side can be seen as more favorable than the other depending on the experiences.

[ you know, accomplices and all of that. both are no good and they've been brought in to clean up the mess? or they're both good and still are brought in to help. that sort of thing, but regardless sabo shrugs. there are so many angles here. ]

Hien said that Florence isn't even human, right? I bet they're exempt from any influences that may be happening around here or whatever else could be happening. I wouldn't be surprised that given everything we've learned so far, that people would be interested in finding ways to function without fear of their emotions "getting in the way" of things.

Good point, too. The truth's usually somewhere in the middle, in the gray.

[There's a lot to consider. And Madara is just beginning to get a grasp on some of it.]

Why bring us in, then? If they can build something--someone like Florence, what's the point? Except that it keeps feeling like they want us to reverse the damage, or something like that.
