[ The night in the cafeteria is surprisingly peaceful. ]

[He hasn't slept in the dorms and doesn't spend a lot of time in them, so he has missed The Trombone Experience, so he just raises an eyebrow at Hien.]

I don't know how long that movie's going to last.

[He puts his fork down, and props his chin on his hand.]

Do you still want to hurt me?

[He just has normal bandages on it!]

It's not the worst injury I've had to deal with, so it's fine.

Considering how you died a bunch of times, I'm pretty sure one of the worse injuries were involved in one of those.

[ Hien looks at Owen's arm and squints. ]

You suck ass at bandaging. Holy shit. Get that off right now.

Well it's not like I've ever needed to bandage myself before.

[Unsurprisingly, magic is the source of all of his healing.

But he'll unwrap the bandages around his arm anyways, ~~pouting~~ frowning the whole time.]

[ He sighs. ]

I don't need to either because I have innate regeneration, but it's still a useful skill to have, you know, in case you can't use magic. Like right now.

[ Hien has a spare roll of bandages because, well, look at him. He walks over to where Owen sits and gets out the ointment too, and a napkin. After the bandages are unwrapped, he gently wipes the area clean, applies ointment, rubs Owen's arm so he can get that in, and then bandages his arm properly. ]

That's when I just let myself die.

[It's a strategy that works for him back home, but. Not exactly something to risk here - not that this injury was anywhere near fatal.

He doesn't protest as Hien patches him up, but he does watch with no small measure of curiosity.

He doesn't bother asking if Hien feels guilty. He doubts he is - and it's not like Owen would be, either.

Still, it's obvious there's something he wants to say, if only he would stop hesitating and spit it out.]

[ Hien looks straight at Owen, and then tightens the bandage to a more painful level. After that, he unties the bandage to adjust the tightness to proper levels. ]

You're not allowed to die any time soon before I get to stab you.

[ ... ]

[Owen flinches, but that just makes him grin more brightly.

Probably because he's a huge, fucked up masochist or something.]

I'll do whatever I want to do.

[And it's not like he controls the die, anyways.]

This was more of a shot than a stab, anyways. Worse than getting hit by a bullet, though.

Yeah. It's meant to hurt for a long time.

[ Because the hook is sharp and dirty from use. ]

[ Hien finally lets go of the bandages and just sits there while resting his head on his hand, while his arm rests on the table. ]

Do you want to leave your mark? Hien.

[He looks down at the bandages, because it's easier to look at that than Hien right now!]

Because maybe if you ask nicely, I won't erase the scar as soon as I get my magic back.

[ Hien looks at Owen evenly. ]

You can erase it if you want. I'm not hung up about being remembered.

[Maybe he's just projecting, but it's plainly obvious Owen doesn't believe that for a second. He props his chin up on his hand, ready to initiate a staring contest.]

Yeah. I come and go through worlds all the time, just like I do for people.

[ He comes into their lives and leaves just as much. Hien welcomes the staring contest though, as if his gaze tries to dig deep into the very core of Owen's existence. ]

If I would desperately want someone to remember me, I'd just be with them until they die.

Well, that's the thing. I don't die. What better way to remember someone to have them in your face all the time? You wouldn't be able to forget them how hard you tried.
